DSL. Apparently we don't have cable in our 2 year old apartment building in the middle of the Wellington CBD...

Hi, the N300 is simply a Router and AP it has no DSL modem for the WAN or do you have an seperate modem.

Everyone else can get Wireless fine, my laptop if the only one that won't connect.

Quite right, most of the Wellington CBD can't get cable. You can get Citylink however.

Have you tried putting an IP address and subnet mask in the IPv4 settings of your wireless connection?
Or if DHCP, turn off modem, wait 30 secs, turn off router and wait 30 secs and also turn off your laptop and other devices on the network, then start up modem, router and laptop and other devices.

Hi, what exactly is your laptop (Win7/XP/Mac) also try turning the Security off and can you connect then.

Running Win7.

Turned all the security and Firewall off. Did nothing.

Is it possile to burn out the wifi? By that I mean my laptop is on the blink and it gets INSANELY hot, like literally burns your hand to touch, hat.

Try connecting to another WiFi access point to determine the WiFi in this laptop is working or not. And no, burning hot is not good.

Make sure you clean vents from dust. But it may be too late, test against other WiFi to confirm or not.

Running that hot does sounds like a problem (possible busted fan or clogged vents). Pretty common if you use it on carpet, bedding, cloth-covered furniture etc. Running coretemp will let you know what the internal temps are.
