Should we be concerned that no one has yet contacted us regarding when HFC will end and a new offer of fibre?

I wouldn’t expect anything spectacular to replicate your unique situation - it will be the chorus standard product and anything else nonstandard will be at your cost.

they only have to offer a reasonable alternative if at all, not like for like 😊

You should not be concerned but it still calls for action from you.

Get on the phone and order your UFB connection.

Unless you are obtaining and paying for a managed service, a common low cost connection is a self managed thing.

Some ISP's are more proactive then others but if they were you would already have fibre.

Erm... they'll be operating in batches with migrating customers off HFC.

I disagree it is a "self managed thing" as they're decommissioning the network so need to get all customers off it. They're not going to suddenly disconnect everyone without migrating them...

People in our area have been contacted and offered a very simple migration plan.

Maybe just call them. Our deal was $30 discount on Fibre Everyday + smart wifi ($96 + $5 - $30 = $71 per month). Plus a $200 credit on top.

We already had fibre installed, just had never turned it on - so a simple changeover.

If you need the fibre installed, it will be a bit more work. More the reason to call them now before the bottleneck of HFC changeover stalls fibre installs.

Update: New router arrived today. Deco BE28 router plus a Deco X50 for extender. Paying $76 per month - $71 + $5 for the X50.

Should that be 2026? That date above has been and gone.

Quick question:  Whilst transfer deal looks 'reasonable', what happens to the SmartWifi router after 12 months?

Is it returned to OneNZ if either (a) go to another ISP, or (b) use my own router?  Or are we then deemed to actually own it?

You get to keep the Super/Smart wifi units. I asked just the other day if we had to return them after 12 months, and the answer was no.

Thanks, but begs the question is one still charged $5 per month after the 12 month period if staying with OneNZ?
