Kodiack:

Looks like we're back to business as usual tonight. I wonder if those Windows 10 Anniversary Updates going out are killing Vodafone's network even more than usual.

Island Bay, cable 100/10 Mbps, 9:30pm

The same only less so.

This speed drop is significant in that it is the first time that my peak hour speeds have fallen below 90 Mbps since the WKH node upgrade, more than a month ago.

I've been getting about 15 Mbps with my Windows 10 Anniversary downloads.

It's now about an past peak, and the congestion's settling down a bit. It's still incredibly noticeable, though. WKH is definitely feeling congestion pains again.

@MikeHales - do you know/can confirm if there was an outage on node W40 last night?

There was on outage according to what I can see on my end and then the latency has been all over the show since.

I was actually about to ask the same question, I noticed net dropped off around midnight and when I checked the cable modem both the main and tv cable modems were not finding any signal on the cable. Seems ok this morning.

I've just changed my router also and noticed it a smidge faster also.

Hi, yes W40 was migrated last night to D-CMTS, hence the short drop out. Future proofing the node!

Hi, good news, recently our tech teams ran a successful D-CMTS upgrade on the following nodes. This is part of a wider node upgrade programme designed to deliver greater capacity to our ultra-fast cable (UFC) customers in Wellington and Christchurch. Ultimately, Vodafone is future-proofing the UFC network so you can continue to do your thing better now and in the future. Further details about the upgrade programme will be available as we go.

Here's a list of nodes that have been upgraded.

  • Karori Node:WWC
  • Karori Node:WWI
  • Karori Node:WWG
  • Karori Node:WWB
  • Karori Node:WWA
  • Karori Node:WWD
  • Karori Node:WWE
  • Karori Node:WWF
  • Tardis Node:W09
  • Tardis Node:W40

At this point I'd be overjoyed to get consistent DOCSIS 2.0 speeds in Island Bay. :(

Glad to see what looks to be some awesome progress though! Hope those upgrades treat you guys well if you're on those nodes.

This confirms the big improvement seen in Karori. I now consistently get 100 down during peak times. 2 weeks ago it was sub 10 in the evening.

Last week my Cable connection was changed from static to DHCP.

The speed seems to have dropped considerably when opening pages.

48.23 down 2.02 up. in Lower Hutt

Is this to be expected?

I received and email on 29 June saying they were upgrading their network, and for me to make the most of their upgrade, I needed to change to DHCP.

I arrived home last Friday to discover they had managed to change my modem to DHCP.

I only realised this due to cleverloop disconnecting and other VOIP gear not working.

So far the benefits have not happened
