What is the actual issue? low signal? Do all the usual tests, best channel, use a manually chosen channel rather than automatic, download a wifi tool on your device, or netstumbler for a laptop.. to measure signal levels

I did a simple hack on mine that boosted 2.4ghz wifi in the kitchen from 2 bars to a steady 4

just get a cardboard box. So you have 2 sides plus the corner a basic wedge shape, flatten some cooking foil over it fold the foil over and i didnt bother with glue i just paperclipped around the edges.

A basic corner reflector. I sit this BEHIND the hg 659, which in my computer room is facing the wrong direction than being pointed at my kitchen.

No, it doesnt

Vodafone just popped in and installed the new Ultra Hub.. (decided to give in and try it.) It does infact do NAT Loopback. Happy camper here.

In my personal experience, I've found the HG659 device to be poor. The device works, it provides the internet but I've found 3rd party routers perform better. For example a Draytek router (a bit pricey but performs way better) or a Netgear router.

I recommended a Draytek to a friend and he also found a huge difference as well.

I found the WiFi Proformance on the HG659 to be ok, but kept having stably issue's (router needing to be restarted) - same issue on two HG659's. Now running an nice Asus all in one, and (since a firmware update), it is rock solid in terms of stability.

If somebody has major WiFi issues on a HG659 (assuming it's not faulty), I doubt another all in one will solve it...

I just spent some time overseas, and it is interesting to note that one of the isp's in that country, offers "Whole Home wifi" set up by their "geeksquad" as their top tier consumer fiber product. Concrete house construction is common their, which kills Wifi signals to that run through 2 or more walls... (they deploy TP-link deco gear)...

Your ASUS all-in-one works with FibreX? May I ask which model you have?

Wasn't the Ultrahub advertised in here when it was launched, as having much better wifi performance? maybe vodafone could swap you over to one?

Thats why I posted here....their marketing also says that ultrahub is awesome...guess I got it wrong :(

When we got upgraded and supplied an Ultrahub the wifi coverage on 2.4g bands improved over the Asus RT-N56U we had prior to.

UPDATE: I happened to reboot my Ultra Hub this morning, and found that my log-in Password still gets wiped … had to use originally supplied code for this.

All other Settings appear unchanged.

After recently upgrading to fiber max and receiving an Ultra Home Hub I have noticed it has very poor throughput of ~80Mbs.
I have tested this using battle.net and other sources as well as trying to download with multiple PCs at once.
the only time the speed goes above this is if i run a speed test. however if i plug the old HG659 in I am able to reach speeds of ~320Mbs on battle.net has anyone else experienced this?

We have a lodge where at night there can around 50 simultaneous wifi connections. Will this modem handle that without disconnecting? The 2 I have tried so far (HG659, NF4V) do not.

This is mad off a ISP provided AP / modem and expecting it to handle this many Wi-Fi connections at once

for that sort of load you need to be looking at enterprise gear

Sorry I forgot to mention that the wifi is handled by 3 Ruckus APs (one on each level of the lodge). So the wifi capacity of the UHH is not relevant. I just need to know if the UHH can handle 50 DHCP connections through those APs. I would assume yes but we get daily disconnections from the 2 modems I have tried so far.

Yes, the Ultrahub can handle that many connections. Bear in mind it is a consumer-grade router though, it may not have all the features you want (such as static routing).

I run a very basic setup with a few devices ('smart' TV, separate PC, Xbox One) plugged directly into the modem/router.

I stream on the TV using the Kodi app, reading directly from files on the computer.
No cables are longer than 5m, with the PC being less than a meter from the modem/router.

When we switched from VDSL on the old HG659 to fibre, we got the ultrahub device. Internet speed on the PC is fine, but stream transfers between the PC and TV dropped significantly.

We get a lot of buffering now that never used to occur on the HG659 device, and I can't seem to locate any specific setting that will improves this.

Replaced all the cables to Cat6e (just to be sure/rule out any issues) but made no difference.

Which one is recommended between this and the Vodafone HG659 for mainly wired internet, 2 phone lines.

Does this modem have DYNDNS support and remote admin?
