Rickles:

I've just gone through the HFC replacement process, and apparently the Fibre Everyday connection won't be enabled for a few days yet.

Anyone know if the HFC connection ceases immediately the fibre one is deemed to be working, or is there a few days cross-over?

There will be an order to update the original provisioning account via a worksheet. That worksheet will manage both disconnection (unprovision via the network) and new connection (provisioning).

It's a plan switch internally but because it's technically two LFCs it's pretty messy to explain.

Thanks Maxine ... understood.

Linux ... I didn't ask the rep because the connection was terrible, kept fading in and out.  And to be honest, the lady's soft Asian voice was a touch difficult on my ear.

However, she was happy to slow down and repeat things for me, and dealt with the change over quite expertly.

So has there been any movement on this from One.nz?   Does anyone know what is happening, or even better is there a timeline?

I would say yes, but it looks like certain areas were pulled off, but no real notifications, and from what I can read, no plans for anyone else to know if or what is coming??

There's a little bit of info on https://one.nz/hfcchanges/ (you might have already seen this, or maybe not, since it took until page 22 before anyone mentioned its existence).

Any news on what's happening in Pegasus? (I didn't see it mentioned on that page).

Once 'transferred' to Fibre, is there any disposal program for the Tecnicolour modems and UltraHubs?

E-waste?  Landfill?

I've found lots of uses for UltraHubs. The later ones are pretty good. Cable modems, TV Boxes and phones (and Ultrahubs I assume) have always been accepted for recycling at a One NZ shop when I've tried.
We are still using the really nice Bluetooth remote from our Vodafone TV!

The FAQ says to e-waste the old cable modems or they can send you a courier bag to send it back

I'd never thought of that! Can you pair the remote with other devices?

Sure can, so long as it is a later remote, identified, from memory, but the presence of a small hole between the '2' and 'Power' buttons. All this and more is on an historic Geekzone discussion of 186 pages! A well-crafted request to Google can find specific information. Here is an entry with instructions for pairing the remote - should work for any Bluetooth device that knows how to use a remote.
https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=40&topicid=254293&page_no=108#2484918

Forgot to add - for our Android TV box the remote needs to be told to connect before it will do anything else. We do that by pushing the power button. After a second or three the box is connected to the remote and a light around the power button flashes green if the batteries are good, red otherwise. (Don't get worried about the red light, we get it all the time.)
There is an obvious problem here - don't accidentally push the power button twice, as the second push will turn off your device!
