Even by the standards of krapi cable on a wet Sunday afternoon, that is exceptionally bad.
That sounds worse than congestion.
I really, really think than you should lodge a fault with Vodafone - today.

I don't know where you live, but right now I'm getting 95/10Mbps on 100/10 cable in Island Bay.

I'm in Wainuiomata and meant to be on the 130/10 plan. It is slightly better now, 2Mbs down and 8Mbps up but this means I have had to literally turn off every other device in the house that makes a connection to the internet so I can stream some online content.

I already have an older fault lodged in the system so they just keep referring to that saying its a known issue, which it is as I can get full line speeds when all the users go to bed i.e. 2am onwards. So for now, I am kinda silently suffering through it and waiting for this fix that is coming. I have already been informed by VF that I am on one of the most congested nodes in Welly but they could not tell me when it was being addressed, if at all. Have since been told that they are working on it and aim to fix it by the end of this month which led to a discount on the bill until its fixed.

Unfortunately, I cannot get fibre so cable was the next best thing but I will probably go back to vdsl which was getting me ~50 - 60Mbps down if things don't start getting better. Pretty sure an ADSL2+ connection will see me much faster/stable speeds at the moment as well.

In Island Bay there will be no fibre until late 2019, and at my address VDSL is no faster than ADSL - so cable is my only option for the next four years.

I think that some work has been done in our area already (performance has improved), but I may have to wait until work is completed in September - as promised in the VF letter dated 07 July. (Did you get one?)

Sure did. I even got a text a few days prior to getting the letter saying the same thing. I posted it up a few pages before but no one responded so I think the text was not sent to many people. One of my mates who lives down the road from me has the same issue and he even received a phone call after getting the text to follow up on how the issue was etc.

Have to wait and see if anything changes by the end of this month and then I will start looking at alternatives.

We stream a lot of video in my house and I have to say it's just been awful this weekend.  Constant buffering from youtube and rubbish resolution on Netflix.

yeah everyone is and netflix + others really took the nz ISPs by surprise I think. Thats the way with corp expansions, no comms for ages then "surprise".

Commercial sensitivity I guess.

So now the ISP's are in catch up mode. End of August I was told when I got old of someone at VF above the frontline support :)

August or September?

From Vodafone's letter to cable users dated 07 July:

"You'll notice two step-changes of improvement over the next couple of months as we release the network enhancements we're currently working on. You will see improvements in your Broadband speed by August and then experience consistent and reliable fast speeds from September."

He said end of august - only fair that they would say into sept to given contingency.

Obviously all places won't be same day of course.

The best thing people can do is think a bit about when they do things like downloading and schedule it for times of the day when it's not congested.

Also the speed sucks right now, after 1am till about 3pm it's usually running like in the good days.

People thinking and considering others is sadly not something that occurs all that often

And it continues to get worse at my area in Island Bay. International bandwidth is beyond horrific. I thought I was on a 130 Mbps connection. Not 1.3 Mbps. But eh, it's only a margin of error of what, two orders of magnitude? Too bad I can't just pay Vodafone one one-hundredth of the bill. :P

The end of this month cannot come quick enough. I'll be thrilled when this is finally sorted out once and for all.

Cable slow down hitting my node / area as well now.

Get 110-130 Mbps during the day.
47 ms to AU servers.

Currently
20 Mbps (just to the chch server)
150 ms to AU servers.

Not impressed.

Can we see these photos or maybe your artists impression of the pictures with your own drawing. Whatever is small enough that will fit through the clogged tubes. :-P

Speeds are a bit worse today than most other days which are usually only slowing for the evening busy hour, it must be a popular day for video.

FYI. Individual tests by panelist by hour today:
