kendog: Just found this article about Telecom offering sky tv packages.
http://www.telecom-media.co.nz/releases_detail.asp?id=2899&page=97&pagesize=10
If this package includes fibre we may have to move.

I hope you offer fibre soon Vodafone, because I do like you and your services.

You might want to check the Date on that article - 2003 not 2013

That's right telecom have a old agreement with sky but you can't sign up to it anymore. The price difference isn't that great between it. And who needs sky in the age of the Internet. ;)

Funny, didn't even think to check the date as it was near the top of their search results.

In my opinion, I highly doubt Vodafone will introduce VDSL

Why is that?
Cable, ADSL and Fibre enough for them to focus on?

Yeah.. not to mention they only just bought Telstraclear so I highly doubt there'll implement VDSL

Personally I think they are silly not to. There will be a lot of people who can't get cable or fibre so VDSL is their only option (Like me). If I have to go elsewhere thats a lost client - Surely they can wholesale it off Chorus considering they already wholesale ADSL from them? Surely a small margin is better than none at all!

Is a small margin better than none at all.

Definitely if there is no setup costs involved like: Building backend ISP systems to support it. Training. Marketing costs. Organizing appropriate hardware supply chains. Opportunity costs of working on different projects.

I don't know what VF will do about VDSL but I do know it is a little more complicated than whether VF just choose to take the small margin or not.

Worth remembering that TCL started offering VDSL2 back in 2008, albeit only in small volumes to businesses. Between VF & TCL they have a pretty extensive ULL network, which would help them to earn better margins on customers served directly from the exchange.

Although as above, there will be big costs to make it ready for mass-market

Right guys - I've started a Facebook page as it would seem that Geekzone forums and Vodafone's own forums do nothing to bring the fact the large numbers of users are considering (or already have) switching to other ISP's. I was about to switch to Snap myself tonight and lose the $13 Sky discount I get with Vodafone (And my suresignal!) when I decided to have one last crack. I wanted to ring someone to discuss even running it as a non-advertised service where clients supply their own modem but figured I'd never get to anyone with initiative and thought of Facebook - If they can bring very average lollies and biscuits back maybe it can do something useful!

So PLEASE if you are on Facebook go to

https://www.facebook.com/VODANZVDSL

and like & share the page to help get it some momentum!!!
