As an example, my old man is a business person and he would find this thread valuable in terms of the apparent lack of support provided by VF to a presumably small business owner (he reads these forums). Reading through the FUG, I personally wouldn't consider any of the OP's posts abusive. Unless you are an admin/moderator, as a matter of courtesy it seems best to either report what posts concern you to the admin/moderators or just leave moderating the forums to them, instead of this mob tactic of essentially asking people to either do the thing you desire or leave a thread.

The above from FUG doesn't specifically say only abuse. It is a first time poster and he was offered help and refused seemingly happy to have a go at VF ( my opinion and possibly others)

Maybe people get sick of 1 time posters coming in here and cluttering up the forum with rants and vents with no other intention than that. As to getting defensive, didn't seem that way but if I was getting accusations made I would see it as my right also to answer.

In my opinion the OP comes across as quite arrogant and these sorts of attitudes also don't help in this type of thread.

Also the assertion it is "mob tactics" is unfair on the people on geekzone that try and help people for free then have to bare the brunt of disgruntled posters that aren't even after help so have no issue with those on here that defend them at all.

I personally don't want to take this any further but IMO things go both ways. Certain VF staff have been known to get fairly unprofessional to even, ahem, doing enough to get their posts deleted on here. Why not simply politely advise people to take up help when offered without the ad hominem attacks and accusations of soapboxing?

For the record, I also agree with Mattbush that KieranReid's reply seemed somewhat defensive. Getting things right (e.g. having acceptable call centre wait times) are matters that customers have a right to expect. That this kind of thing isn't usually advertised by users who get what they rightfully expect is neither here nor there IMO. Issues to do with wait times on VF's customer support lines are well advertised and oft-repeated. Are these people's experiences somehow all so unrepresentative of the reality?

I was willing to give you the benefit of doubt. But I tell you what I think. I think you are looking for a soapbox. And this is just a "little forum that popped up under Google", not your damn soapbox.

You want a soapbox? I tell you how you get one: register a domain, pay for a hosting account, spend sometime installing your own software and then write as many blog posts as you wish. But not here in this little forum that popped up under Google, because here you just have to follow the same rules as everyone else and one of the rules is no soapbox.

You were offered help but didn't want and then just decided to be rude to myself, moderators (who do their work here for free) and telco people trying to help... Be gone.

As for those who talk about the mob mentality, you know we do not remove posts/ban users just because someone complained about a service or another. We do when someone breaches the FUG, or is disrespectful.

Absolutely. No dispute here. I for one think ultimately we are better off without the OP. My point is that can we have the site owner/moderators, who have the right to do as they please with their own site and/or are trusted to moderate, to moderate instead of users piling in and demanding that people essentially go away etc. To put it another way, people have a concern about some user's post? Either report it to an admin/moderator or debate the issue instead of running up judgments/demanding that someone stop doing X, and then +1ing each other. Just my 20 c.

Read what I posted. I have no qualms about people debating the issue or even the merits of the OP's. But there were actual USERS here essentially trying to render judgments about whether the OP's posts belong here/violate the FUG. This isn't their site. That's my point.

And what I observed regarding VF staff having had their posts deleted aren't matters of opinion. This has happened and people can see that with their own eyes. Is that unprofessional? I'd think so. Anyway, this is definitely my last post on this now basically pointless thread.

Yep, read and agreed with both sides - Having said that we try not to shoot down soapbox posters straight away because sometimes they come to be long time members of the community. From the comments the OP posted I don't think this would happen though.
