corksta: So how much will it cost to share data with a tablet after 31 August?

$10 per month per tablet.

Customers who sign up at $0 will continue to pay $0 to share data with their tablet for the life of their plan.

chiefie: @Dynamic, next question is. I wonder how much will it be to break the 24 months term. May revisit this when iPhone 6 is out and see whether it's worthy the breakage.

I'm enthusiastic about this plan, but am not Vodafone staff.  Sometimes it is worth break fees to make a greater saving in the long term.  Did this with my mortgage some time ago - $1500 break fee but saved $3500 in interest.

Hmm... true. It will save us $80/month between two of us - even though it will give us 1.5GB to use between 4 devices, and even if we add on 2.5GB worth of extra data to match our current data allowance, that's extra $50 but only as required.

So then it's a case of "sign up as soon as possible to take advantage of this special?

Curious, I'm about 12 months or so into the 24 months term on the Smart Data $80 plan, what's the termination fee for switching to Red Essential for me, and add my partner as Red Share Mobile and 2 tablets Red Share Tablets. My partner has his own account which I've been given the delegation.

Correct, you must be signed up before 31 August to get this promotion.

PM me your Account details and I will have a look at it if you like?

Thanks Andib.

I would have to think about that if signing up after 31 Aug, because I could pay $10/month to share the data from my phone's plan, or pay $10/month for the Broadband Mini (discounted due to my on-account mobile) with 500Mb of data like I do now.

If it was $10 per month per tablet and it gave you some extra shared data that would make it a very easy decision.

I am also interested in the answer to both of these questions.  Have the Black packages changed since December? I have a spreadsheet detailing them from that time.

We currently pay around $185/month for 2 mobiles - Red Business & Red Essentials.  My package is up in September and I'm not able to sign another 24 month contract (as I leave NZ in a year) so would be keen to switch before the term is up.... this may work out better for us.

The 12 month terms have either been stopped or I have a browser issue.

Only Consumer level Red/Black plans are eligible for the Share setup. Not the Business plan versions.

Yes you can. I did exactly that today with my 3 connections. $69 + $29 + $29 is much better than what we were paying.

Is there no voice/sms on the tablet option, or is it just at some horrid casual rate which would be fine for a GPS etc device which only really gets used for SMS if somethings gone horribly wrong so 20c per SMS isnt a huge deal?

And the press release is out now:

Hand out data like it’s pocket money or give the gift of unlimited NZ and Australia talk and TXT to family. Vodafone today unveils Red Share, letting customers share the benefits of their Red mobile package with the people they love connecting to most.

New and existing customers on a Vodafone Red plan can add family members for only $29 per person per month. Just like them, they’ll get unlimited talk and TXTs to standard New Zealand and Australia numbers, as well as being able to share their data allowance.

And customers can also share their Red plan data with a tablet. For a limited time, customers can connect a Red Share Tablet plan for $0 a month.

Vodafone’s Consumer Director, Matt Williams, says Red Share offers great value for busy families who want to stay better connected with each other.

“With unlimited talk and TXT to NZ and Oz, Red Share lets families and friends use their mobiles the way they want without worrying about bills or unexpected costs. The plans offer the simplicity and value customers want – all on one bill.

“Kiwis increasingly use more than one device to go online, and Red Share Tablet lets them use their data allowance across multiple devices.”

All members of the sharing group can monitor their usage with the My Vodafone App which provides notifications and controls.

Working Mum and part-time student, Tiffaney Day, is adding 12-year old daughter Bella to her Red plan.

“Red Share will make it easier – and cheaper – for me to stay in touch with Bella. By sharing my data with her, and Red Share giving her unlimited calls and TXTs, I won’t have to worry about her running out of credit. It’s great value, and it’s all on one bill.”

Matt adds: “It’s super easy to be in control of your account with Red Share. There’s just one bill to manage and the My Vodafone app lets customers view their balance and check out how much data is left – for all connections sharing the account.”

Vodafone Red Share allows multiple sharers, including up to four Red Share plans and five Red Share tablets. To find out more, go to www.vodafone.co.nz/red-share

Those images need their width and height attribute adjusted correctly, they're fuzzy - my eyes!!

- The image size for Red Share is 471x527 but it's added to the web without width and height (so it's rendered as 460x515).
- The image size for Red Share Tablet is 471x445 but it's added to the web without width and height (so it's rendered as 460x435).
