katietommo: My iPhone 5 cable 'stopped working', but then after buying a new cable I found out that that didn't work either and the actual problem was a lot of fluff and dust in the port. I got that out using tweezers and now both cables work fine.

Good point, that can happen with microusb as well.  Personally i think ports need to be done away with entirely, there is just no need for them any more.

Except for those who know that Wireless Charging was actually invented by the NSA as a backdoor into all of out data for monitoring. Just wait for the next law to be passed mandating Wireless Charging for all portable devices :)

There is also the magnetic / flat contact dock option.  Still better than a port imo for something that goes in your pocket, gets damp, etc etc.

Well beyond the scope of a cable, Apple have just offered to replace/repair a SECOND HAND trademe iphone 5 under the CGA as it was bought (originally) directly from Telecom (who 'no longer exist' even).

I was totally honest about everything I knew about the phone, and that I'd bought it on TM and didn't have anything but an email address for the seller, and that I was only looking for an out of warrantee repair,- though I probably did come across knowledgeable with my opening line of having DFU restored and searched IMEI block and iCloud lock - but, as all of these were not to blame, AppleCare are sending out a box to collect (2 days) and quote a turn around/return time of 7-10 days.

Call me an iSheep (TM) all you like that is TOTALLY beyond the requirements of the CGA (which I didn't even mention- the 'consultant' brought it up) and stunningly good service!

Now if only Apple set up an ISP in Nz and called it something like MyRepublic ... (/joke)

All I can say is WOW!
