I'll wait & see what is on offer from WXC

My current expediture is $35 for TCNZ and $34 for Xnet 128/FS plus $1/Gb a base total of $69 I tend to use between 2Gb and 5Gb per month

So what it will come down to is what I get for my $69. I won't be changing just so I can relinquish TCNZ

I tend to see myself as a typical broadband customer not one who is a zealot about dropping TCNZ and or using VoIP for the sake of it

I'm more interested in when I get adsl2+ as my exchange was due for upgrade 21/9

Time will tell on both counts...

When the announcement was made that Naked Bitstream is to be launched in October, it was stated in the NZ Herald article that it will be only for new customers (and at the time said only new Telecom customer) and in December it will be available for everyone.  Up to now it was only me that stated on this forum that we will get it only in December, finally people are catching on as to what will actually happen.

Side track:  As for waiting for your exchange to upgrade to ADSL2+, it will help little as to your ADSL speed.  It will only increase slightly as your neighbours upgrade (or reboot) their modems and the ADSL2+ technology reduces crosstalk to give your a better quality connection (rather than better speed).  We have to wait 'till mid next year when they will upgrade the backhall which is limiting our speed.

Apologies to drag this offtopic, but from what I read in the wholesale informers, they are upgrading the backhauls at the same time as the DSL2 upgrade to ethernet backhauls, with what I presume to be larger capacity.

You may find they still *shape* the traffic like DSL1, but the physical backhaul is in place for better speeds.

That's good to know, thanks.  So the ADSL2+ "launch" next year will simply be taking away the shaping.  Can't wait for the Naked Bitstream, that will be a start to a brighter future (or so they say).

Slingshot advise delays in receiving the info for N-DSL, so are delaying their launch time maybe mid October. My guess is, all ISP's are in the same boat here, thus probably the main reason why no update on this from WxC etc.

Your are correct Fraser, info with the exact details of the product being delivered from Telecom has been slow in getting this to us but it has now arrived so we can look to finialise our plans hope to have something very shortly but rest assured we will be working hard to get it out, most probably we will look to see if any one here is interested in being part of the first rollouts as we like to use the early adopters and there are some slight limiattions for a small period of time will keep you in informed of this though

Yes I am a employee of WxC (My Profile) ... but I do have my own opinions as well Wink

Another WxC customer puts his hand up for the trial Laughing  though TNZ are saying they won't allow existing users to move to NDSL at first.....

Yep count me in for a new N-DSL connection for my company.... but only if it's going to happen this month.

BTW, and I know it's wildly OT, but would Xnet give me a 28 bit static IP range on the connection, for my DMZ? I realise it wouldn't be cheap.
