Update from our networks optimisation team.

"Steam.cdn.vodafone.co.nz has been removed as a content source from the steam client NZ region since 10-August by Valve. Steam traffic is now served by our Vodafone NZ Akamai servers resulting in better speeds. I have confirmed and tested this ... I was getting 11Mbps from VDSL."

scotty1986:
"Other steam speed issues will not be due to the steam cache, so if any complaints comes up such as the one raised by scotty1986, we need to get information on what access type they use, address, time of day, DNS settings, speedtest results, trace source IP of the content, easiest would be to use resource monitor in windows machine (type resmon in run)."

a shame that the last standing content server has been removed.

however, removing the badly preforming part and purely going off Akamai locally is a reasonable move, many others have already completed this.

assuming i recalled the correct country code for steam NZ, valve5.cs.steampowered.com is now the content server, which is one of valves official servers in Sydney.
