thecatsgoolies: Correct people are across it now

Across what?

Do you have a solution you want to share?

Do you know what the correct DNS is for VF Cable?

Pumpedd: I am more confused than ever....
As I understand yourself and eljefe are on different parts of Vodafone's network (you are on Cable while eljefe is not) therefore different settings such as DNS server addresses may apply.

Anyway it sounds like your issue is resolved and eljefe has arranged to receive support from Vodafone remotely.

As mentioned above, mine is a VDSL account, originally with Worldxchange, who I have been with, for ... ever....
They were acquired by Vodafone. Now it is a Vodafone account. I only mentioned the Worldxchange bit in case it was of importance. I don't know if it is or not.

You can count on it. Will try to get a coherent resolution that I can understand.

Can you scan PC with Malwarebytes?

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

That was interesting. I spoke to the tech man via phone. He logged in remotely to my router, just as well, as I had no idea what the user/login was. I asked him lots of questions and he said that my dns settings were actually blank, as in, they were full of zeros.... he replaced them in the first instance with the offical VF ones. If that failed I think the back-up plan was to try the google ones, I guess to try and prove what the issue was. I asked him how he thought the router was even working without DNS entries and he said he didn't know. A check on my PC had not shown any local DNS entries at all.

Since putting in the VF primary and secondary DNS numbers I have regained access to hotmail/outlook. So for the moment that is a win I believe.

I will give it a few more days and report back if I lose it again.

Thanks for all your help folks.

I also have had this problem for the last week on vodafone cable.

Was advised by vodafone helpdesk to use google DNS settings and now I can access hotmail. They are going to get back to me.

I had this issue and they also told me to use google DNS..but called again yesterday and they gave me some new DNS numbers that work good.

So for VF Cable only use

203.109.191.1

203.118.191.1

Mike Hales from VF has also confirmed these as VF CABLE DNS settings

Yes..........automatically,

These are the correct DNS settings. I would ask VF staff if they advise you to use Google DNS because something has stopped working when it has work perfectly before, to look into it more or log a fault. There is no issue using Google DNS instead of the WXC/VF ones. The only thing is some content like youtube/netflix will be served from VF caching platforms when using the correct DNS. otherwise you will be getting it from overseas servers.

@ Jeff you say the app on your phone works when you couldn't access it from your pc. was your phone connected to wifi at all on the same LAN as the pc when this was happening. Because if it was working over the wifi on the phone but not on the PC, issue is pointing to pc setting.

WXC ADSL/VDSL/UFB]
Primary DNS: 58.28.5.2 (ns1.xnet.co.nz)
Secondary DNS: 58.28.6.2 (ns2.xnet.co.nz)

VF [WN & CH HFC customwrs only]
HFC primary DNS 203.97.78.43 (ns1.telstraclear.net)
HFC secondary DNS 203.97.78.44 (ns2.telstraclear.net)

VF [ADSL/VDSL/UFB]
Primary DNS IPv4 (203.109.191.1)
Secondary DNS IPv4 (203.118.191.1)

Trust me these are the correct settings.
