I had given up on FTTH because I'm out of luck on the only Auckland coverage maps I'm aware of (Vector and CityLink). Are there other maps for Telecom. TelstraClear, anyone else?

Also someone I know reckons Telecom put fibre on his road years ago but it's never been lit up, are there any plans to offer it up and is there a map of this dark fibre?

Those speeds are hot. If the real world results end up staying similar those examples it might be time to sell up and move to a new development.

Wired Country

Can you post a link to Vector and CityLink fibre coverage maps??

Also where in Auckland are you?

That will be Telecom "First Media" network.

And Vector is here. I believe their network is growing in line with power undergrounding which is currently rolling out to Sandringham, Mt Albert and Remuera.

I'm in the Auck City council area but the wrong part sadly.

I have fibre being used next door (high school who are on "the loop"). Too bad i cant sneak in and lay a cat6 cable to my house.. Fibre is also being used a couple doors down (power company) from my workplace, grabed a speedtest.net screenie while i was working there the other day, looks like they are being speed capped, although there is 170 computers in active directory so god knows who was doing what when i ran the speedtest.

If theyre using TC, then yeah, TC's usual fibre plan I think is 5mb limited. We're on it here at work in Albany. Can be quite finicky at times tho....

yep its hosted by telstraclear, in blenheim tho. Its not very well advertised but there is a couple of different fibre networks in blenheim.. one owned by telstraclear thats mostly unused (goes around blenheim and all the way over the hill to nelson).. one that is owned and ran by marlborough lines (basically just links up there substations at the moment) and "the loop" which links up the schools in the region to 30mbit+ internet.. now if only somehow WXC or someone would approach one of these networks and strike a deal for residental use!! Dreams are free i guess!! (if by chance you do work something out, put me down for the trial Laughing)

Its one thing to run p2p fibre distribution around a higher density commercial area, its another thing to place a drop every 15-20metres in every street.

i wouldnt expect them to deploy it to every street. But there are copius ammounts of new developments/subdivisons happening that could benefit with a fibre trial.. the infrastructure is pretty much there already, just need a company to come and put it all together.
Anyway back to the original topic, sorry for the ambush of the thread!

Looks like Vector may have fibre down my road (Milford on the North Shore). There is also alot happening in the Forrest Hill/Wairau Park area as walking down the street they have 'Telecom : fibre" written all over the footpaths. They have begun putting power/phone lines underground too.

I got a question

Whats the difference between VLSL and Fusion DSL?

VHSL is the 30mbps/6mbps plan that cost $1.02 per GB after so whats VLSL?

I read the flyer in pdf format and saw that it says $45...

So was wondering.Whats the speed like on VLSL?

Actually who can get VHSL?

Vector looks like they have fibre outside my house and work. What is a "big plug" connection worth through WxC?
