I still haven't figured out why VF only went 1/2 measure in getting rid of email, they should have just pulled the plug on incoming email as well, guess they will take another tug at the band aid later on down the track and give the customers some more pain.......

The inconvenience of people losing all access to their email address would be massive. No company would be crazy enough to do that.

I feel I am left with just one option, that is to close down my Vodafone account (homeline, broadband, email) and sign up with another ISP that does offer email.

Bit of an over reaction don't you think?

Why not just contact a different ISP and pay for one of their mailboxes?

Gradine:

And ... Kuhrt: I have tried connecting with Vodafone, at the company's executive level. I have had no replies. So, just got the big IGNORE.

Not sure why you would think that you would get a reply. :)

I dont know why some keep banging on thats its just bad to use ISP provided email

Just why, honestly . Even if you quit the ISP there is often the option to keep that email adress for minimal cost
There is NO REASON an ISP cant host email just as well as anyone else .
Much smaller companies can & do host email, so are we saying that large ISP's, with all their resources and funds simply cant do the same ?

What about the ISP's who use a 3rd party to host their free email (eg Spark ) yet get the same irrational statements : dont use ISP email
Based on that logic we wouldnt use any 3rd party email provider

Re getting out of the Voda contract, you would need to prove that Voda were breaking (major) terms of the contract: check the Terms & Conditions you
signed up for.
In all fairness, they should release you from the contract , as many did see ISP email as being of upmost importance when they signed up .
Check with the Commerce Commission etc if have have issues .
