psychrn: I would doubt they would penalise those of us who signed up on day one on the new plans!!
I look forward to see what is on offer ?? If there are any changes.

AT&T did this when the iPhone was launched in the US last year. It was released in June, then less than three months later the price was reduced by US$200. Customers were then offered a US$100 credit in-store to say "sorry" to the people who bought it when it first launched.

New Plans looming for iPhones
http://www.nbr.co.nz/article/new-plans-looming-iphones-33662

I wonder what the reasoning for this is? slower than expected uptake so far? seems strange they would announce new plans so soon after the original ones.

I am thinking apple may have had a little word in the ear to vodafone about the plans they released. Don't quote me on this at all but seems a lot like what happen over in canada.

These new plans should be very interesting...... If these new plans are good with a 'fair' upfront cost I will be in a Vodafone store purchasing one Laughing

That article said a couple of days so i would expect it  to be this week, Maybe thursday / Friday.... I spoke to a lady at a vodafone store and she knew nothing of any changes to iphone plans, she said it would be very unlikely that the plans would be changed. I suspect this was just a sales tactic to try and get me to by the iphone :)

Like i said, staff  vodafone isn't allowed to tell anyone, therefore only top people know the plans. everyone else like customer service reps will find out the night/morning before it is released to the public. Perhaps the annoucement will be on the 11th August (1 Month) after the initial release so thats monday <---- Guess/2nd stab in the dark.

do you mean turning off data completely on the 1st gen iPhone?  If so install BossPrefs and it has a slider to turn EDGE on/off which corresponds to turning GPRS on/off in NZ.  You can use it to turn it on and off at will, just like WiFi in the System Prefs (although BossPrefs has WiFi control too, among other useful things)

Nothing has changed, those 2 plans have been available from start, along with another plan (which is not shown on the website, but is available in stores)

Ah, scratch that... was comparing back to one of the old posts which was incorrect & had the data set at 200MB, not 250 as it is now.

But I wouldn't be surprised if it's not much different to what they are now!
