Ill be honest and say, yes I have moved my activities to normal hours (outside 12-8).

I normally archive large database backups during that time, aswell as a healthy amount of other activities.
I usually use 50-70gb a month in total.

Now im paying 1.50 per gb to do it because I cant at night, I expect my bill to be quite high this month but its a price I have to pay.

Though ill be making sure their help desk knows how unhappy I am that they could not deliver their service, and that I have incurred extra costs as a direct result of their failure.

Let us pick up our pitchforks, grab some torches and start a x-plan hunt on your favourite ISP!

I must admit I am now downloading during normal times also, out of a need more than a want to, when from 12-8am a popular 700 meg file only gets to 25% yup time to keep going......

when i first joined xnet in December, never ever had to do this, would always set my Dled to midnight and do it that way but nah, being ripped off big time, no service, no speed....

And for the record once I shift house in about 3 or so weeks, I will not be using Xnet.

I'm changing my plan tommorow. Downloading 100-150mb a night is only gonna get me 3-5gb of free bandwidth per month... No where near my 75gb... I've started downloading in peak hours so at least I'll be saving 33% on what I'm being charged - $1.53gb down to $1.02gb. It's a bit stink that they're advertising it as 75gb free off peak but there is no way anyone could download that much for a month with the current speeds - am I right?

all these people complaining about not getting 75GB at my download speeds i could easily get that and i only download at off peak hours makes me wonder why everyone else is getting such slow speeds

Simply put its because you are getting those speeds. Obviously xnet's international pipe cannot sustain everyone with FS, so instead of spreading everyone's speed equally, a select few people (in practice this is probably in the hundreds - but for the sake of argument..) get in first and soak up all the bandwidth, leaving nothing for everyone else. So when everyone else tries to do anything, their connections will time out etc, or simply that they cant "shunt" the other people aside to share the bandwidth.

*shrugs* probably not true, but its an idea anyway

Nothing is free guys you have to rememer that.. At least you are getting free data! If your not happy then leave. I suspect a lot of people are on this torrent plan just so that they can download at night. Once these people leave XNet's network will be much faster once again.

Going back to the regular Fusion plan and back to download during the day, at least I don`t need to leave the machine running at night. My mate is staying on the Torrent plan, just in case it improves. We share our downloads and expenses. I think this is a good solution, we have all our bases covered.

If honest work and justice are not enough - we'll get a lawyer.

Has anyone changed there plan and seem big improvements in their speeds? From what Im hereing its not just the torrent plan that is being effected

I have yeah, that's why I'm changing. 12am-8am is still slower than dial-up :P It's like as soon as 8am hits my speed jumps up significantly... Hence why I'll be downloading in peak time.

I like people like you....your only answer is if you dont like it leave......

We are paying for a service, and that service was offered by Xnet, why should we have to leave because we are not getting what we paid for?

Sure I dont DL or try to DL upto the 75gig limit, but it was Xnet who offered this not me, not you not joe bloggs (he could be a plumber

)

My suggestion would be to simply revise the whole plan and instead of being greedy after all it was Xnet who added this plan...free data how appealing...and making it look attractive, make it reasonable... Lets face it the torrent plan attracts teh heavy downloaders..

Why not change the plan to say 20 or 30gig off peak data, change the times from 12-8am to say 2am -8am and then see how it goes....or get rid of the free and make it a mix, 10 gig free, the rest at say 0.50cents per gig.....for those hours.

I'm ringing up right now and ditching the torrent plan, it was good while it lasted... have been trying to download a "file" overnight for the last five days, a few weeks ago I would have had it done in 1 night. But that's not the reason I'm ditching torrent. This morning I got up at 6:30am and couldn't even browse the web... ridiculous!

So it's back to downloading during peak hours at $1 per GB for me.

edit: I rang and spoke to the most unenthuthiastic, unhelpful csr ever... what has happened to xnet??? They used to have nice helpful people on the phones....

Ok so it seems that it doesnt matter what plan you are on, speeds between 12am - 8am are crap

So why doesnt xNet acknowledge that there is a speed issue problem. This would atleast look like they give a +#*^ about there customers !!!

No, it does not affect every Torrent customer and it does not affect every "normal" customer. I am not affected at all, and a Torrent customer also posted that he is getting good speeds. Some Torrent customers are affected and some "normal" customers are affected. No one knows why, and no one is telling either. And the happy customers are not posting here, because they are happily browsing the internet instead and only the upset customers are keeping these threads alive.
