It's really important that you call the dedicated number

Online chatted with VF, then rang the usual VF Support number: They say there's no dedicated number for the team they referred to as x-squad Team. But a Ninja said he will put it through to my case manager as "opt out" of the migration. It seems I can stay on VDSL for now.

Thanks everyone for sharing your insights on this migration stuff. I wouldn't have known where to start.

So looking at that photo, I presume the fibre was to run up either the left side of the drive to drop off to houses, but approaches the drive from the right, hence has to cross the drive. Is this crossing only happening once or does it need to occur multiple times.

Are there properties both sides of the drive? Can the trench not approach from either side and use the council road to get an approach to the left side. I presume there was no issue digging the fibre in either side of the drive, the only issue is crossing it.

This fibre path would serve three properties along this driveway some 130-180m further up.

Yes, it approaches from the right, and yes, running up the left appears easiest.  1 crossing is all that is needed. Further up, Chorus proposed both surface mount and overhead wires in places.

The cutting was the only stumbling block I think.

We already suggested back then to instead use the tar sealed council road at the bottom to get to the left. That would avoid cutting concrete. But our proposal was never considered by Chorus then. It was their option, or nothing.

Below you can see the not-steel-inforced tar seal, where fibre could follow parallel to the blue line, then go up on the left hand side of the drive.

There are services in that area, but working around these should be possible one would think.

Hi, I would suggest you reach out to @ChorusNZ as it would seem to be that whilst it might be more expensive to cut the road/tarmac, its clearly a better solution. Just because there are other services in there should not be a problem if care is taken, its BAU for utiliies to work around others.
