The ".co.nz" part of the domain does not mean they are based in New Zealand, at all.

I see they have a Christchurch listed address - but that may just be for holding reasons. These aren't legal and someone from Vodafone et al should be notified.

spark also have a problem of some of there sales ppl saying to look at these people.

even with the link removed i know straight away about the thing that is being talked about.....

i have been hunting illegal boosters for years and still do to this day. people fall for the " its a nz company" all the time. they make it look like its approved when infact its not. its just a copy and paste for the many different sites the guy has and the product comes from overseas. he is based in the uk so doesn't care at all.

some of these boosters can go faulty anytime from 3mins to 3years.

the wifi calling part is going to help customers a lot, the need for boosters will drop over time, but there will be companies out there not wanting staff to have access to the wifi via there phones and then a booster will prob be needed. with the likes of a celfi quatra or any of the other celfi products being one of the only approved units in the country these will still be installed.

I'm also seeing with more and more health and safety stuff, having good cell coverage is becoming more important. This is were where Cel-Fi has some advantages over Wi-Fi calling. Wi-Fi calling certainly fills some gaps; but it doesn't work when there is an internet outage, over poor internet, over poor Wi-Fi and a few other random reasons. A Cel-Fi unit (when properly installed) is very reliable and you can easily add a battery backup for during a power cut.

The problem I have is that so far Vodafone isn't supporting any of the handsets I have in the house.
So wifi calling is pointless. I know others in the same boat

@dodgernzl which is why, after 542 years, I have switched to 2degrees.

@dodgernzl  That is unfortunate.

I bought a 2degree $10 sim just to test if my Xaiomi MiMix3 could do wifi calling.

Their wifi calling is supposedly compatible with a wider range of phones.

Turns out my phone still couldn't do it, but I did discover that I got a signal.

Unbeknownst to me, a 2degree tower was commissioned two years ago just 400m from my house.

I remain enormously annoyed that the suresignals are being turned off.

If you want working VoLTE and WiFi calling then buy an IPhone. Until Google fix the fundamental flaws with Android and move to a carrier pack model like Apple the problems with (in)compatibility are only going to get worse.

Or get a handset from a NZ carrier with approved software on it

In the Android world even that is still a shambles. There is no guarantee that a phone you purchased with say Spark firmware will offer VoLTE or WiFi calling or VoLTE on 2D or Vodafone.

My S20+ that was 2d branded had VoLTE on VFNZ and SparkNZ

Can't test VFNZ VoWifi cause it's no longer in my possession but I know it's already a problem for others.

Also most Xiaomi devices do VoLTE for all carriers now just need to remove the carrier check via a secret code and away you go. This includes 2D, VFNZ and Spark and likely Skinny as well.

In fact let me go test 2D right now.

edit:

Nice.

Not quite the 10th.

The continual gsm hunting noises on my clock radio from the phone searching a tower was the first indicator

The flashing lights on it are the 2nd.

Ka-put.

Edit.. 30 mins later it's back

Any idea if VoLTE works on the 11T or 11 lite?

Not a handset I've tried personally but the answer seems to be yes. Just need to remove the carrier check via a secret code and away you go.

I was testing VoLTE and VoWifi on a Xiaomi MiMix3 a week or two ago.

The disable carrier check codes worked for VoLTE but not for VoWifi.

Same happened at my place yesterday, rebooted it and it was back on when I got home from work.
