jesseycy: Can I just say.....
That I'm happy with Xnet limiting Offpeak torrent speeds to 120KB/s...... That way, users who download 10-13GB / night would not be able to do so, which would improve speeds for a downloader like me who do only about 1GB/night...
Thank you! (Now, just don't reduce this to below 120KB/s......)

if you are a member of a linux distribution list, you dload an ISO and leave it uploading for others.
A new Distro comes out, you dload and upload, but leave previous ones open until the most recent leaves beta. I am begining to wonder if anyone else on Xnet is legitimately using torrents?
jesseycy: I think Xnet should adopt such a "shaping" policy.... It'll be fair, and I think users would be quite happy to accept it.
1. Torrent <-> PPM Users get a proportional share of the bandwidth pipe 24/7, based on user numbers. (It’s only fair!)
2. PPM users face no traffic shaping 24/7, whatsoever.
3. Torrent users are not traffic shaped during peak times (no matter downloading torrent or http).
4. During off-peak times, torrent users are limited to 120KB/s for all downloads. This would avoid people trying to circumvent the restriction by using encryption, etc
Set alarm, wake up, turn on consoles, go back to bed. Thanks for the disruption Xnet. I havent had a decent night sleep this year. I have actually spent nearly every night up till after 2am. Investigating what xnet have been doing. I have perfectly configured clients/router/PCs. Its all Xnets doing.

Dude, you're taking this wayyyyy to seriously. If you don't like it, leave. Quit your whinging about legalities etc and just move on. You're so smart I'm sure you can find another ISP.

Ever Installed Mac OSX server from scratch and seen how many updates it pulls from apple? I dont think you have. Ever installed CS3 or CS4 from scratch and seen how many updates it needs? Probably not either. Ever pulled update packages from a linux server. yes? no? do you have windows and update that?
Most people dont even know how many updates come through windows update services. Good thing WSUS saves downloads of that.
So people with more than 5 computers on their networks running XP should be encouraged to buy Windows Server 03 and install WSUS, edit their Group Policy to recieve updates from their server and only dload Updates once to a centralised location....Perhaps a xNet WSUS would also fix a few international bandwidth issues during Peak. a small GPO script for WSUS sent to xnet customers?
