How do people on plans that have no international SMS get imessage activated? I know I keep getting nagged on my phone about activating the mi account sim thing (I just blocked its notifications to deal with it) and it cant send the SMS, but I really dont care about that but apple users are very much into imessage.

To all affected. Can you try again this morning please?

This should be fixed as we had an issue with Apple and our UK Vendor for relaying the activation texts.

Just turned iMessage and FaceTime off and then on again on my wife's iPhone and it instantly connected to the number.

Thanks!

Hi All,

Is anyone else having an issue with iMessage activation on Vodafone anymore?

On Wednesday/Thursday last week ported into Vodafone. I am in the Android camp and all was good.  My wife uses Apple and I can't get iMessage to activate.  Other OTP texts etc are all good (Banks, Meta, Viber etc)

It feels like the routing tables not been updated and after all my attempts and 5 days the message activation icon is still spinning.

Have tried every "self help" video on YouTube, nothing.  It seems to have sent 19 international texts as part of the activation (which I was charged for).

Have spoken to 777 today - who answered quickly and were very polite. But ultimately unable to help.  Went as far as saying the phone could be faulty!?

Apple have been good and say there is nothing on their end which is blocking activation and not their problem.  Vodafone are saying that all is good, there is no block on the account and intl text ext are allowed (we even have the intl. call/text pack)

Seem to be going around in circles - and the wife is getting grumpy.

Any ideas or feedback?

I ported in to One (FKA Vodafone) yesterday from Spark, to take advantage of the unlimited One plan.

My iMessage hasn't activated yet – it has given up/failed one time with an error message after a few hours, and the other times it just sits there on "Waiting for activation…".

Is there anything I should be doing to get it sorted, eg. any value in phoning customer service or will they just get me to do the basic troubleshooting stuff I've done already?

Or do I just need to be more patient?

You can try Vodafone support. But while I found them prompt and polite ultimately did not solve the problem. Some of their suggestions were ridiculous.

It never got sorted for us until a mate did the same port in to Vodafone and found the same problem. We went nuts as many of his customers contact him via iMessage.

He got to a higher level tech, a place I could not get to, and they found a problem. The day his activated my wife's did too. So something was broken somewhere.

Honestly, what worked for me, before I ported back to Spark, was just toggling the iMessage toggle on and off several times. Just be prepared to pay 20cents a pop as Voda don’t waive the activation fee

I would be saying I will pay 1st 20 cents - the rest I will not pay as it is your system at fault for not activating if you want to pay more then you are breaking the law by having a faulty system that you want me to keep paying to try and activate it.

Honestly, good luck with that. The CSR said they’d credit my account back but in the end I just ported back to Spark - was tired of iMessage dropping off every few days. At least Voda doesn’t have a stupid 30 day notice period

I just ported over to Vodafone yesterday, and am having the same issue. iMessage didn't even register my phone number initially, and after putting it in manually the wheel is now just spinning and spinning, waiting for activation. Vodafone says everything is good on their end, and to just give it till tomorrow morning. I'm also not getting verification texts from some services, including banks, which is frustrating.

I thinking I'm racking up quite a few dollars in activation texts..

Sorry to hear you’re having a similar issue. Odd about the 2FA messages though; I was still receiving those fine, it was just iMessage that took a few days (and a couple of calls to both One and Apple) before it came right.

The 2FA texts were totally nonexistent last night, some like ANZ and Apple started coming through this morning, so I'm hopeful that I just have to wait for everything to finish porting over or something for that. Not sure about iMessage after seeing this thread though.

Hey I'd wait until Tues - I done several ports before and it seems Apple or someone updates their backend Mon night sort of and then it activates.

My iMessage eventually came right, about three days after the port, on a Friday.
