and as for WISPs, they don't seem to serve, like, the middle of Wellington. Hell, getting back to another issue, the Deco app is horrible to use with a screenreader, so from an accessibility standpoint this router is incredibly hard to config and suchlike.

Hi can you not setup a DMZ and static routes to a device of your liking, that is the closest you will get to bridge mode.

no, the unifi wants to actually be assigned the public IP.

Hi not too sure what the issue is, I manage a number of unifi systems the largest with 40 switches and 120 APs and on a typical day near on 1000 users, the system sits behind other routers, works just fine.

Hi, possibly, don't use any VPN feature on unifi, rely on other devices for that.

hrm, we have a specific usecase for the site-to-siteness of the magic site VPN, namely, deploying one Unifi here in NZ, and one in Alaska, and one in Canberra, and one in Seattle, and merging their networks.

If this is a requirement consider moving to a fibre-enabled premises. Mobile won't give the same QoS even if this worked.

freitasm:

@ThatPrettyFreya I've read through the topic. You are right. This seems to be a public IP (which Geekzone shows for your connection).

It shouldn't be unless things have changed since I left in March. I suppose OP could also be using the internet IP which does yes give you a public facing IP but I suppose that question was never asked.

As for OP. There's really not really much option. It's the X80 or the H122. The H122 might actually achieve what you want to do(blanking if bridge mode exists on it, but again good luck finding one on Trademe, not much stock was to be had as chip shortage and it got replaced by the X80 swiftly to increase the portfolio of Deco devices.). You really do need another solution on the WAN side of things. A WISP would get you there.

Checking WISPA. No WISPS serve the Te Aro area it seems so you're really screwed unless you moved.

Hi or maybe move some of this to a VPS and use more wireguard links, you need to start working within the limits of what you have it seems.

@MaxineN

If you can help us get an H122 that would be very helpful, we're assuming that's got the standard Huawei firmware? We know on that you can at least kill the DHCP server.

Wireguard (or Tailscale) to a VPS is an idea.

You can run up to two Linux images for free on Oracle Cloud. I run status.geekzone.co.nz from one, in Sydney.

Yeah, we kept trying to sign up with them and they kept telling our card (both Kiwibank and Transferwise) to piss off.
