Vodafone have announced their Release Date.. Its the 10th of July

16GB : $1,179.00
32GB : $1,379.00

Plan pricing and handset subsidies will be available closer to launch date.

You would have sort of hoped that the 16gb would have gone down to the 8gb launch last year, and the 32gb would come in at last years 16gb. Given the general progression of increasing capacity.

Pretty poor in all honesty.

16gb is same as the 8gb was and the 32gb same as the 16gb was in the US so why should it not be the same here. The exchange rate has gone back up to the mid 60 cents area and seems to have stabilized

I wonder if vodafone will halve the price of the current 3G on 10 July as occurred in the States when the 3GS was launched?

Maybe high RRP might be to do with the competition from XT network and the phones not being locked. Maybe subsidies offered will be quite good as a result.

But not holding by breath based on past dissapointments.

Agree with Mike - not holding my breath. I've not bought an iPhone yet in NZ because I can derive the same utility from a Touch and a mobile (on Telecom).

Another reason why once my contract is up I will be leaving vf. They have poor plans and hand set prices, poor customer service and can't even impliment the technology to enable things like visual voice mail to iPhone customers. They are a bunch of crooks. Hence when my 12months is up I'll be canceling my account and heading to telecom. No visual voice mail either but like vf can be arsed.

Do you know of ANY telecommunications company that isnt' a bunch of crooks or a rip off... either here or worldwide they are all the same sorry to say. as bad as the record companies in my opinion

Vf are pretty awesome at it though! I'd love to know what the handset costs to make. Should be cheaper for people already on contract. If they can give a discount to new customers they can look after the ones they already have IMO. That said video, 1mp, voice recognition is hardly a $1300 upgrade!

FFS that sucks. I was going to purchase one for $979 which I was hoping but this is BS. I hope Telecom offers it or I will be importing it and unlocking it

Apple are selling these outright and unlocked from their retail stores in Australia. If you know someone over here you should hit them up to give you a hand getting one. Much rather choose my own network with an unlocked phone than be shoehorned into a crap plan by Vodafone NZ
