Hi,

I have been holding off buying an Iphone pending today's announcement.  Is there any new at all on an NZ release date (I assume from Vodafone) As I can't find it on the Vodafone website.

Any info appreciated.

Regards,
Alexis

iPhone....yawn.

Still no second camera for video calling, still miles behind the times in specs and functional ability, still severly limited by Apple restricions and blocks.

Apple are all about control.

It just a pretty device, nothing more.

Ive yet to meet someone who actually uses video calling other than the inital 5 mins when they first try it out or for the very odd time they think its funny to video call a mate while pissed at a bar.

As for the limitations they are easy over come by jailbreaking.

Thanks to those who actually gave me some indicators rather than an argument on the merits of the iphone.

I see that Vodafone is offering a free docking station with the 3G iPhone up until 15/7/09 which probably indicates a launch of the 3GS on 16/7/09.

Def wait it out. Ive been waiting for a while. Chances are the 3GS will be similarly priced to the current 3G and when the 3GS comes out the 3G should go down in price. So you are silly to buy one now.

I hate waiting for stuff, i had been waiting since the first one came out.
And always thought nah I'll wait till 2nd Generation and then it came out not much different.

A Concrete Date of it's release here would make me wait but its just so tempting.

I think Video and the 3Mega Pixel Camera is Worth waiting for.

more then the 3MP camera is the ability to have it actually focus rather then the current one which is about as useful as an old fixed lens film camera IMO.

Vodafone have said they expect it July , have not worked out plans and that date is out of their hands it just depends it could end up being as late as August... Quoted form a Vodofone rep on vodafone.co.nz message boards in reply to a question re pricing and availability
