Wait?  I thought GST was raised by 20%.  2.5 is 20% of 12.5

2.2% comes from 1.15/1.125 so you are paying only 2.222222% more than before. Too hard to explain to the general public, just like the new millennium was at the end of 2000 and not at the start of 2000 (there was 1AD and 1BC, no 0).

I have to be honest I didn't read the HSI page where yes you were right it clearly does state $1.28 per gig.

However it wasn't really pointed out that you were saying just HSI had changed which is why I said the info was misleading as the Fusion prices if you hit the Fusion Link not the HSI ones have all the same info as it was before the GST rise.

Also the easiest way to answer the query about where 2.2% comes into play is probably this

For item costing $100 before GST being added it is a 2.5% rise to 15% so the said item would go from $100 + 15% = $115 however to increase the same item where GST is already included (pretty much how most purchases already are GST inclusive) then the rise is only 2.2% to go from the previous $112.50 to $115.00.

Hopefully that clears that up. Now of course I have to agree with one of the earlier replies that a little bit of clarification from World Exchange / Xnet would be good.

Just to clarify the new plans

Naked = FLS/FLS without VFX - doesn't require line rental
Fusion = FLS/FLS + VFX - doesn't require line rental
Clothed = FLS/FLS - must have line rental

The old plans have been grandfathered and no longer available for sale.  If you are on an old plan you will not be changed to a new plan automatically, you will pay the same charges bar the slight GST increase.  Basically the only change for the old plans is the slight GST increase from 12.5% to 15% - so no change in data pricing unless you change to a new plan.

The new plans just happened to coincide with the GST change which appears to have caused some confusion.

Is clothed still limited to ADSL1 speeds? Really should make the clearer on your website. Surely that must be close to a breach of the Fair Trading Act?

Clothed is whatever is available at the exchange, ADSL1/2+ etc.

So where it says "FLS - Full Line Speed or as fast as the physical line will allow based on ADSL1 technology." & "to upgrade to ADSL2+ (where available) please visit our Xnet Fusion pages." on your website, its actually incorrect?

Correct,  I've sent an email to our Product Manager to change this.

Can someone let me know what the speeds are like on Xnet? Quite like the look of there plans, especially the torrential plan. So speeds during the day and after 2am (i expect there to be shaping after 2am just curious as to how much actually occurs).
Ill be crucified by my flatmates if gaming and youtube are unusable so this matters too.

Bit of a moot point mate, you can't get Torrent on new connections now! AFAIK the std plan has good speeds tho.

The Xnet website still offers the torrent plan on the sign up page for the fusion plans, no idea if this is a mistake or its genuinely available.

Xnet seem to offer fairly reasonable speeds, I've been with them for the last 4-5 months at my new flat and have only noticed a slow down for one evening where rebooting the modem didn't fix the speed problems, it returned to normal the next day. There also been a couple instances where the modem appears to have lost interest in performing and required a restart to get a decent connection.

Obviously Xnet is never going to be able to provide a fast connection if you have crappy wiring or a dud modem. There seem to be a lot of people who appear on forums complain about their ISP only to change and find they still have the same terrible speeds. I guess people like to take the easy route and just blame the provider.

1080p: I have read this a few places now, why are people saying the GST rise is only 2.2%? I would have thought 12.5 - 15 would add up to 2.5%.

It is an increase of 2.2% of the price including the Old GST (12.5%) e.g  $11.25 inc 12.5% GST + 2.2% ($0.25) would Make it $11.50.

It is a 2.5% Increase of the Price BEFORE GST, E.g $10 + 15% GST = $11.50.

Torrent is no longer available.

I have escalated the fact that it's still accessible via the Website.  There are some major changes happening to the website which will hopefully clear the majority of these issues up.

In the meantime I apologise for the confusion it's causing.

So just to double check. The $1.02GB data pricing ISN'T changing other than the extra GST being applied to it, if we don't change any plans. (Im on Fusion atm.)
