johnr:khull: can't wait to sign up for my 4g plan with 100mb monthly limit. ahem - I think not.
having returned overseas from a 3rd world country, I could get unlimited 3G internet for only about $6 a week. I think I'll just hold out for just a bit longer - walk down the street in NZ and most people will have problems articulating what the true definition of 4g is.
What Country?
What Network?
Provided ' unlimited ' internet for $6 a week

Optus don't offer unlimited data. They offer unlimited browsing. Two totally different things.
sbiddle: It's good of you to bring at the 3 plan. It too offers virtually unlimited on-net calling (5000 minutes per month) which once again shows that NZ is far from unique offering on-net only deals.

It also includes 2000 off net minutes so 3 customers do not have to carry two phones when talking off net.

That's not my point however. You seem to continually raise the issue of on-net deals being anti competitive. My point is that they are now commonplace around the world. Even the OECD telco analyst who visited NZ last year to speak commented he was surprised NZers even had to pay for on-net calls.
3's plan is also more proof that retail pricing of mobile services has absolutely no relationship to wholesale MTR costs. UK MTRs are still 4.7p per minute, 2000 minutes off net at 4.7p is significicantly more than the plan cost.
