Watching parliament tv  via gen 1 box at this moment,

The sound is out of sync even thought ive unplugged and repowered it.

as previously noted

This may be of interest. I am also using a Gen1 STB and the sound on PB Question time was normal.

Hi, @eracode HDMI is constructed of four 100ohm transmission line pairs, why not put a female-female adaptor on each end then cut a 1m HDMI cable in half and by whatever means hook up a couple of pairs to give you a 100Mb/s ethernet circuit from the cupboard to the back of the TV, once done report back as to how it went.

Cyril

Thanks but not really within my tech ambit.

Edit: Found MyTV works with On Demand.  Was looking trying to do something on FTA channels. VTV came with a set-up guide - is there a UI Guide?

Also, if we turn the TV off without doing anything with VTV, when we turn the TV back on, the VTV video is frozen on the FTA channel we were watching previously but the audio is running in the background - and it’s not obvious how to get the video running again. Are you meant to turn VTV off before turning the TV off? I don’t understand this because the VTV and TV are connected only by HDMI and I don’t think there’s any CEC in play here.

I turned TV off first by accident, the VF box went into standby on it’s own.
When turned TV on had to use remote to turn VF on.
Guessing that’s what is meant to happen.

Hi all - I may well have missed the answers elsewhere on this thread. Apologies if this is a repeat of any questions!

  1. What are the outputs on the V2 box, and does anyone have experience with it running through an AV amp?
  2. When multi-room launches, does the $25/month/extra box add additional cloud storage or does it simply allow access with the same 500 hours/account no matter the number of boxes?

Thanks, Gary

1. HDMI only  (there has been a post from @olof discussing how SPDIF has been deprecated in VTV Gen2).  A lot of users, including me, run VTV through an AV receiver and it supports 5.1.

2. the latter option, the 500 hours (~1.5TB of HD storage) is accessible from any of the boxes (and also mobile devices launching soon, if the content rights allow it).  Note that the $25/month/extra box only applies when sharing a Sky subscription.

I’m a little underwhelmed with the Guide that came with VTV. Having trouble with the interface because it doesn’t seem very intuitive and the instructions say very little about the UI. Eg how does MyTV work? I can’t see a way to add something to it. Is it meant to operate automatically if you don’t finish watching something?

Hi, thanks for the feedback.  We've been wondering if we need something like a YouTube clip on how an experienced user navigates and some tips and tricks.  Your post is a good support for us to do this!

Not sure on your other point ... but I'll see if @olof can answer (if he hasn't already).

PS... did you know this navigation trick:

1. press MENU

2. navigate to highlight TV Guide heading and click OK to bring up the TV Guide

3. press BACK to jump to the filters... very useful when you want to browse just the Sky Sports channels, for example.

8. The cloud buffer extending to 5 days, or eventually 7 days! And with more/all programs available in the cloud buffer or to cloud record!

Olof: For sure a good idea! We would love to extend the CloudPVR buffer to something much longer than 3 days. This is only limited the content partner agreements that we have. @sansom maybe you can comment further?

@sansom - can you comment further?

For a new item, sometime recently either sansom or olof mentioned an update going out today (presumably this morning in the wee hours).

When I went to start the VTV this morning, I had the "won't start so have to pull the power" issue.

However when it fired up, after the message that says "Vodafone TV is connecting to the internet" (or whatever it says), up came a message that said "Something has gone wrong. We didn't configure the device before you bought it" (or something along those lines). I though "oh no", thinking the worst. But luckily the sound of a FTA channel started playing, then eventually the picture appeared.

So, @sansom or @olof, can you folk confirm if a patch went out this morning, and if so, can you advise what has changed, and, have you seen this error or message before (even though it ended up being OK)?

Still love my VTV!

Will look forward to your reply :-).

Take care!

Tony

Hi Tony, the VTV Cloud circular buffer for rewind can have only one length for all channels.  As @olof says we must observe the content rights for each programme and having the circular buffer set to 3 days gives us the 90% rewind coverage we currently have across all programmes.  If we increased the rewind window to 7 days (for example) then the number of programmes that allow rewind would drop significantly, if we shorten the window to 2 or 1 day we would get a small increase in coverage.  We believe 3 days is the sweet spot.

To all GZ members with VTV Gen2,

You are invited to Beta test our latest firmware (version 57.11).

This latest version supposedly resolves the following issues that affect some users:

1) STB not coming out of standby (solid red light on STB requiring a power cycle)

2) Black Screen issue (sound but no picture)

3) Wi-Fi issues

New addition: scrubber (visual FF/RW) has been enabled in a pre-release form.  Also very very early release of STB to Samsung Gear, PSVR, Oculus and HTC Vive VR device integration for a virtual IMAX TV viewing experience.

If have a Gen2 box, and you'd like to join a group to Beta test 57.11, then please DM me.

PS I suspect the VR feature might be the Tech team joking around.

Hi David,

We were hoping to get the same version for Gen1 overnight... but it didn't arrive :-(

But hopefully tomorrow, or at least this week, we can invite Gen1 users also.
