How strange..... Bestmate does not include PXTing! --- dumb ommision.. it should include all the comms to that number!

Bestmate is great, and it will be abused by many. (fair use policy applies)
The nice touch is that it's only $3 to change your "bestmate" (if less than a month) so it's probably cheaper in many cases to change it then call out and change it back!
The TXT will be well used by my monitoring Gateway (will be detailed in upcoming blog post), the problem is the 90 day topup though at leats it's only "credit expiry"

The "comes with the supa prepay" $2 weeknight caps are lovely..

The TXT is kinda cool but probably not that much use to me.

The standard 89c call rate is crap, the full-minute rounding is even worse, buyt hey, this is how they will claw back some of their lost revenue. look for some "dual sim" devices still hanging about (jaycar still have afew)

To answer an earlier question, While I have successfully ripped the Ki strings (the crpytogrophy) from old simcards (2 here, numerous overseas) and cloned then onto a SmartSIM (pre "Sim2) it only destroys the new ones so it;s not really an option unless you happen to find some old sim-1's floating about. The product used was called "SuperSIM"

bradstewart: Does this replace the current prepay plans? And $20 min topup every 3months is a bit harsh. It was bad enough being forced to top up once a year.

It just became avail now, 12:45 I am the first official customer! LOL it did not work till just now.

now for it;s first calls then dump the SIM into my controller gateway and instruct away!

i think this suks man 1 best mate txt2000 only to 021 and 029 and have hold credit for 90 days to hell with this man i want to text my 027 mates as well it sounds like it costs more on vodafone still. on telecom 10 txt i get 450 free text's to both networks and calling to 027 49c and landlines minit.

in my opin this promo suks i thorught it would have been better then this

You don't need to bother with calling 434, you just text SUPA PREPAY to 756.

I've just gone through and set up Best Mate as well (all using the TXT messages to 756) and it worked like a charm.

I noticed the website up last night and set myself up. I took quite a long time to do, but I got there in the end.
There was a delay of about 5 minutes between my message sent and the replies from vodafone. That, along with a couple of "I didn't understand the command" type messages made the whole process drag out for over an hour.

Still, its nice to be on the new plan. I feel like I should be sending loads of messages but have nothing to say. At least I don't have to worry about using up the credit now if I want to call.

BestMate™ is just one of several exciting new benefits Vodafone Prepay customers can now enjoy when they choose to go on Supa Prepay.

“We are keeping things simple for our customers, ensuring we give them price certainty, choice and value,” says Shelley Watson, General Manager, Customer Base Marketing.

“We’ve talked to our customers about what they want to replace Free TXT Weekends, and BestMate™ came out on top.

“Almost everyone has one Vodafone number they call, video call and TXT often. In fact 20% of the average Prepay customers’ spend is a call or TXT to one person,” says Watson.

All Supa Prepay customers get a great flat base rate of $0.89 for ALL national voice and video calls anytime plus capped calling where they pay no more than $2 for 2hours to any 021/029, nights and weekends call. Then they choose from the following Add-Ons:

• One Vodafone BestMate™ they call, video call and TXT all they like for $6 per month
• TXT2000 which provides 2,000 TXTs to 021/029 numbers for only $10 a month

Don't need a building to put staff in
The network costs nothing to run and Nokia just give the cellsites to vodafone for free

Ha, I was going to attempt to translate but I don't fully understand it myself.

Anyway, This plan looks alright for people who only realy call/txt one person but I think most people are better off on old Plans or 027.
