Thanks for the heads up.

I haven't received a STB? (or would have already installed it myself, lol)..

Is it supposed to be couriered out or does the installer bring one with them?

Vodafone TV is over your Fibre so no ugly Sat Dish to install :), Simply running ethernet from your router to the STB.

Oh cool, didn't know you just streamed the Freeview channels over UFB (I assumed it was Freeview Satellite + VF PPV channels over Internet)  ..

Could be worth an unlock/update on this thread which I came across when looking for alternative ways to get freeivew:  Possible to stream freeview over internet?

It's not "Internet" traffic as such, there is 72mbit of bandwidth (@TimA Correct me if I'm wrong) on your UFB connection dedicated to TV which allows for Freeview, SKY & Additional VF PPV channels, completely separate from your internet bandwidth so it doesn't matter if you're on 30/50/100 or 200Mb plan you still get the same quality on your VF TV.

kenkeniff: UFB installed on 23rd July, should be 200/50 however tested just after install that morning and got 30/10.

  • First call to VF; told speed would increase in a couple of hours after "job had closed".
  • Called a few hours later; told order wasn't provisioned correctly and they were going to re-provision for me, should take around 15min
  • Called back about an hour later; now told it could take up to 24 hours
  • Called back after 24 hours; told Chorus hadn't closed the job properly, will take 24 hours for Chorus to close the job then 24 hours to re-provision.
  • Now been well over 72 hours from last call, still on 30/10, not 200/50 (residential).
Worst part each call entails at least 3-4 transfers (repeating account details & problem) and 15+min on hold before being transferred to someone who eventually pretends to help.

Not too concerned about the time taken to fix the issue and get my account on the proper plan, but just don't like being strung along and felling like if I'm not constantly chasing this it's just not going to get done (i.e. if they said it's going to take a week and someone actually followed that up then fine).

Pro tip:   WRITE DOWN THE CSR'S NAMES!!!

then you get to call them back and ask why things haven't happened.

Don't forget to ask for a credit for the seven days you were on a lesser plan

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.

Not sure what plan I'll be charged for. When I log in to My Vodafone I still see details for Naked DSL, nothing about UFB?

Chorus just txt to say actually coming tomorrow now, fingers crossed.

johnr: For fibre log into customer zone

Ok that wasn't too painful, only 1 transfer and 5-10min to get my Customer Zone username/password (now have 3 different Vodafone logins!).

A couple of issues I noticed though on the create profile form (https://customerzone.vodafone.co.nz/selfservice-customerzone/registration.jsf);

  1. Doesn't accept my postal address which is a 1111/22A This Street, Town, City 1000   (only lets me put in the 22A This Street....)
  2. Form doesn't trim whitespace from user input (i.e. email@email.com[space] is rejected)
  3. Capcha at bottom of the form reads "Type the two words you see in the picture above, separated by a single space" however there is only ever one set of numbers shown.

Only reason I mention these is that I've noticed them before on other parts of the site too when setting up my other Vodafone accounts, and I know you/Tim will be able to direct it to the right person.

Also in relation to issue 2 it caused problems when I was setting up my VF mobile account in store and sales person (using a similar form) kept telling me my email was invalid until I managed to convince him to give me a go and discovered a Zero-width space had been tagged on the end after he had copied/pasted the address from another screen. He also had to do some workaround for my address which I'm unable to do myself on this form.

If you're getting this error, head back to the main page of My Profile, click on Associate Account, and re-enter your account number/account password.

If that doesn't work, please send me a PM with your account number & Customer Zone username, & I'll have a tinker. :)
