As nice as it may be I can't imagine Telstra will continue to run its CDMA network (at a cost of $hundreds of millions p.a.) just so it can make roaming for a few trans-tasman customers a bit easier (as lucrative as the roaming market is). If the life of CDMA is extended it'll be purely because WCDMA coverage isn't up to scratch.
Roaming could have been part of the equation when they were making the CDMA vs WCDMA decision, but not now WCDMA is up and running.
Yes I agree. It seems Telstra still have quite a few CDMA customers through. Despite the Australian Goverments ruling that Telstra's Next G network must provide equall coveage to CDMA, I stil see CDMA being shut down on the 28th of January 2008.
