Both companies are good and bad - it cant be helped. Companies are run by people, people are good and bad, myself included.

No one company really cares about me, only I care about me. With that in mind I choose what I perceive to be the good from any company and choose that product. When the good turns to bad, I then choose the good from the other company. Eventually you get to a stage where the good outweighs the bad.

I started with Bell South, switched to 025 telecom. Went back to VF for OA for a little while but due to misunderstandings about my requirements by VF I was back at Telecom 027 account. $10 text is more than enough for me. I dont have any one number to justify spending $6 per month as the 500 is more than enough to include everyone I deal with.

Loyalty is admiral but there is always someone more loyal so where does it start and where will it end. What extra service do you think you are entitled to - I say loyalty ends at "best self interest" (I'm sure there is one word for this) , if it not in my best interest, then I am no longer loyal.

Errr... since when? According to Telecom their Rev A is @ 80% population coverage.

Errr... since when? According to Telecom their Rev A is @ 80% population coverage.

100% of their coverage is CDMA EVDO Rev A. This means 80% of the population gets Telecom 3G.

Vodafone may cover the same 80% (in diverse areas) but it's not 100% 3G.

97% pop coverage for voice
97% pop coverage for 1x
80% pop coverage for Rev A

It's not 100% 3G (yet - the WCDMA900 rollout is humming along), but neither is Telecom.

Since December 2007 Telecom's network is 100% CDMA EVDO capable. If you live too far away from any cll tower of course you may not get it. In contrast not all Vodafone's cell towers are 3G capable.

And we have already asked people to stop with this network war in this thread. I didn't start it to discuss network capabilities but to let people know that I have moved on from Vodafone and to share their experiences in services.

Agreed. Loyalty to anything other than your own bottom line when it comes to dealing with businesses is a bizarre concept, its not as if they're loyal to you - only their own bottom line (money). The reality is that we should be loyal only to the companies that make the best appeal to our own self-interest (the reason why competition is good).

That said, while I have no loyalty to any company, I do have some principles that I try to apply (buy NZ made/locally where possible, with the caveats that quality must be sufficient, and price not excessively inflated, buy from businesses with sustainability models/non-exploitative, reward good service with repeat custom - providing the other caveats remain etc etc) - idealistic loyalties perhaps? Theres often a tension between my bottom line and the idealogies though, and sometimes the idealogies take a back seat when the appeal to my bottom-line is too powerful.

If I might pass comment relating to the original topic - I find it a bit rude that people are asking for the reason behind Mauricios switch from Vodafone to Telecom. Isn't this quite a personal decision? There could be any number of reasons behind it, not one of which is really anyone elses business but his. The fact that he was asked for the reason once and didn't respond is one thing, but to barrage that same question - and in at least one case a bit rudely (perceptually speaking - perhaps not meant that way), is not really what I'd expect to see in this forum.

I'm currently with Vodafone, but it will be interesting to see what happens when Telecom goes UTMS.

I may change, depends on which carrier is the least draconian around content sequestration (and for my money that is likely to be Vodafone, based on the overseas experience of them breaking ranks with the other carriers first regarding issues like Nokia's move to become a content provider).

This doesn't mesh with what Telecom have announced .

Agreed, all VF sites aren't 3G enabled (yet).

I don't have the time or energy for a "war", just ensuring we're talking facts.

On a slight side track, but I'm leaving Ihug having been with them since 1998.

Their charges have become too high and speeds have become too intermittent. With so much media rich content around these days, I'm paying a fortune per month when other ISP's will charge me only 1/2 as much.

I don't mind the Vodafone merge as such, I just object to the charges Ihug/Vodafone want to set.

Shame really, and it would be quite scary if I was to add up the total $$ spend I've had with them in the 10 years !

Oh well, my hard earnt $$ is now going to another company.

I dissagree. I think Mauricio really wants to tell us why he's left the big V, but again in his own words

"I probably will. I just want to calm down a bit and put things in order..."

So lets give him some space, and I'm sure we will be enlightened.

Personally, I want to find out why so that the big warm fuzzy family that is Vodafone, can put things right and welcome Mauricio back into it's caring nurturing empathic cuddle.

I dont understand your feelings about this gehenna at all.

If you dont want to be asked, then don't post a comment here. It's a Forum, where people interact with each other in form of comments, questions and answers.
