It does seem Vodafone is breaking their own T&C if they are trying to put the price up for Feb

https://www.vodafone.co.nz/legal/terms-conditions/general/

b) If we consider that the change will have a detrimental effect on you:

  1. we will give you 30 days’ notice of the change or, where that is not possible, as much notice as possible;

Obviously not even close to 30 days from today (11st Jan til the Feb billing cycle)

I will be in touch with Vodafone regarding how I am suppose to give them 30 day notice when they didn't even follow their T&Cs.

If you are billed on the 11th** of every month then I would expect in 30 days on the 11th of Feb that's when you will see the change.

Customers have known about this change for quite a while, Much longer than 30 days more like 2 - 3 months

John

I'm actually not aware of the price increase as I have a special discount for my broadband package and am not paying the standard charges.

Also you are assuming customers are following up news outlets and/or frequently checking Vodafone websites for announcements?

I certainly have better things to do than browsing Vodafone website every day.

Nevertheless their T&C specifically mentioned they would give me 30 day notice which they only did today.

If I break my contract today and gave them 30 day notice, how is my Feb bill going to be calculated? I am fully aware 3 dollars is not worth the time and effort at this point.

I only received my invoice today by Email and it is the first time I have been informed of the price increase.

Just got off the phone with Vodafone, as long as I switch before end of the month there won't be any penalties and/or extra charges.

They also offered to waive the increase and/or switch me to the 79.99 (soon to be 83.99) dollar Smart Home plan and give me a 10 dollar discount on top (which makes it 73.99). but I would have to sign up for a 24 months contract.

At the end, with the 3 months free promo and free connection etc @bigpipe gets my business for the next 12 months.

I've been getting snail mail and emails to lock in my $10 loyalty discount.

"Hi there Did you know you can get a $10 monthly loyalty discount off the standard plan price of your broadband? All you need to do is re-sign with us for another 12 months. It's super simple to do – just click the button below to get going."

It includes a Vodafone TV intro.... why do I suspect this will be difficult to get out of when the intro offer ends! Wonder if the 12 months contract will skip this increase?

I have also read in the Southland times that they are increasing the price to make Vodafone more appealing to investors therefore they are doing it to grow as a company

My December bill had a notice about direct debit terms changing but didn't get the $3 increase notice till January bill (dated 17th and emailed on 21st) - Just called Vodafone and queried both my 24 month contract T&C's and the lack of 30 day notice. After the standard spiel from the call centre person, got put on to a supervisor. Agreed to get a $10 discount in lieu of the 30 day notice - equivalent to 3+ months of the increase.

yitz: Gonna have to swap out the Huawei gear sometime in the future = more $$ gets passed onto the consumer.

Exactly ... and bye bye 5G.
