Just happen to notice that Vodafone planning price increase for all broadband  customer regardless of what  you been quoted in present contract . my case it set price on signup on 24mth contracts . Personally I believe that if you got contract it should be honoured at price signup to  though out duration of contract as works both ways one can't  just leave due to price increase as the been force stay due to early exit fees  Just interested on what other people views are of this as i'm sure there be  some like voice them here

There is no simple answer. It's a case where the 'fairness' of their actions comes down to what your contract says, and how was the offer was worded.

Even if there is scope for an increase in fees in the terms, if the promotion states $x for x months, then it would be reasonable to expect that to remain fixed, and for any clause allowing the price to be varied to apply after that period.

My $0.02... don't sign up for fixed term contracts. If I were in your situation however, I'd be looking to exit the agreement without penalty.

It’s interesting cause when Spark did it, they gave you the option of exiting without penalty.

I happened to speak with my a/c manager from Vodafone yesterday. She said the $3 will be applied by all broadband suppliers to every plan.

Which is blatantly untrue.

Have they given any reason for the price rise?

So the ARPU goes up! Why would they have to give a reason?

Is the Vodafone increase for the same reason as the Spark increase? As in https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=39&topicid=240388

If so, then I presume instead of charging $5 per customer with a copper connection, Vodafone are charging $3 for all broadband customers.

Spark isn't perfect but currently it is galaxies ahead of VF in terms of corporate ethics. If Jason Paris is serious about reforming VF, he really needs to make it 1000 times more customer-centric and about 1 million times less arrogant.

Really? Unlike Spark, they expect fibre users to subsidise copper users?

What a joke. Stuff like this is why I recommend literally any other NZ ISP or mobile provider over vf, when asked.

Are there any other reasons an ISP would be increasing price in an absurdly competitive market like the NZ ISP market?

Gonna have to swap out the Huawei gear sometime in the future = more $$ gets passed onto the consumer.

Only affects Copper customers, just rang up doesn't affect people with UFB.
