quebec: Is the Box tied to Vodafone account/subscription or relies on Vodafone Broadband for Freeview channels and apps like Netflix or will all that work regardless?

Tied to an individual VF account.

So when does it stop working? Once you move from Vodafone? Even Freeview channels won’t work?

To my knowledge, Correct. It’s tied to your account.

Keep in mind VF TV is delivered over your internet connection not via a TV aerial or satellite dish, I would guess once the VF TV box sees it is no longer connected to a VF IP address it would no longer work.

I’ve tested it works over another internet but not sure if it requires an active Vodafone account as I still have VF account.

We have had ours for about one month now and it's great. We came from a Sky TV decoder (which we still have unplugged - I need to return it).

The GUI has been great, just as responsive as the Sky box. The addition of Netflix and on-demand content is great.

We use the rewind and oops I missed a show - start at the beginning function, a lot.

Would recommend.

I have the VF TV box set up the following FYI:

  • Located remotely in a cupboard
  • Uses 1080p HDMI extenders over Cat6 (VF TV box is 4K - make sure you change to force 1080p otherwise you'll get a purple screen!)
  • I use a Harmony One remote - works great, I don't get any functionality not available.
  • Connected to a near new Samsung TV

I'm guessing you cannot chromecast the VFTV app from my phone onto another TV located away from the VFTV box?

Anyone care to advise on the above?

Hi all, confirming that you are not able to cast from the VFTV app to another TV, without a VFTV box.

I would love to confirm things.. however the box is sitting here a week after received and its still doesnt work. I got an email from a Josh at vodafone last Thursday saying to send some contact numbers and they will call us to sort it.

Numbers were given, its Now Tuesday..

No call from Vodafone and no reply from josh to the 2 followup mails i sent.

What we did was resign for another 12 months from a link Vodafone sent out.. one of the bonuses was vodafone tv intro..

I got free Modem, Intro with a resign. Expected disaster but was happily surprised. Transfer Type C to Type A delay - 2.5 months of nothing happening lolz. But when did ...

Plugged in new Ultra Modem (took advice in startup to setup wi-fi with the same password and name as before) and voila all go in less than 20 mins from unpacked box. Very happy.

Intro tv arrived and plugged in and just worked. Set up a pile of things to record and some basic settings but first impression ui is not too bad. Tried to setup apps on phone and ipad and no go failed at login. Went to net and saw some ideas (enter password in caps) but nothing worked. Gave up.

Tried again next day as had been to busy to sit on hold at Vodafone and apps now worked so something self sorted at Vodafone end.

A week later I am still really happy with it. I am paying $30 less a month and have better wi-fi and the Intro tv. While I have hit a few snags and the ability to watch on phone seems there but always locked to box and you cant watch anything remote recorded as far as can tell. I is easy to find things to record and I can see the work that has gone into it. If everything worked remote (watch live tv and watch recorded tv) then it would be fantastic but I understand why some limitations are there.

Hi all

Just been randomly sent a vodafone TV box so tried to swap it over from my old vodafone with sky box (with the big old school grey remote). I think they are migrating all old customers over.

Set up is Vodafone TV box feeds in to a Sony Receiver STR-DN860 and then to Samsung TV (model UA40H6300). Same as old setup which worked fine.

Anyway swapped it over and I am getting an error on TV screen re HDCP 2.2. I think error is fed from receiver based on the font of the text.

I'm thinking that the Vodafone TV box is trying to send 4k which receiver can handle and pass through but then TV too cant handle it. Does this sound like the issue?

If so then I presume buying a 4k TV would fix ? Alternatively can I change a setting in the vodafone TV so that it doesnt send in 4k (for now)?

Thanks

Yep I had similar issues due to VFTV set at 4k. But it was due to my HDMI extenders not being 4k compatible. I set the VFTV to 1080p and all has been great since.

Cheers for the response. So this is just a setting I need to change on Vodafone TV?

Presume I need to be able to see it all on screen to do that though so may need to bypass receiver, change settings and then set up again through the receiver?
