Pffft! wait untill Apple hits "Phase 2" of the iPhone release and more than "Selected" stores will be selling it, and freely outright too. At the moment there are allocations, (usually half / half) for Outright and Contract. You guessed it the Outright ones walk out first, snooze and lose buddies, its not our fault your not quick enough. Untill then, yo better just go play with something else buahhaahaa!

From what you written, it seems like you are associated with Vodafone sales. It is this kind of reckless attitude that lets down the customer service sector.

This is dumb sometimes, but the truth is most Mobile Phone Producers rely on the cable providers.
Believe or not iphone makes split from per 3g+iphone plan out of the profit of iphone itself
do u understand what i mean ? maybe not , that's my point, it s a complex or myth.

Despite all their screaming ads promoting prepay, Vodafone does and always has treated prepay customers like lower class citizens. A friend of mine who works there confirmed this on multiple occasions when I asked him something relevenat to prepay and got the answer "we dont give a f*** about prepay" or words to that effect.

The iphone deal is something else again as they want money from you for data but yeah, dont expect great service when on prepay anyway

Certainly when I used to live in the UK, telco's regard pre-pay customers essentially as poor people with bad credit ratings who cannot get a mobile the "proper" way. Pre pay was/is seen there as simply a method of increasing cashflow from second class customers at nil risk.

Again, you dont make much money from managing customers pre pay add ons and tops up etc. It's a SALES based industry not a service based industry. Get used to it.

Take a look at Contact Energy. Apparently, thousands of customers have terminated their contract with them and have moved to another company. It is a sales industry but service / reputation is just as important.

Just watch out Vodafone, as soon as Telecom releases it's own 3G network, you may find your customers leaving thick and fast if the service provided is not up to scratch. People will vote by their feet when there is competition.

I presume that it will take Telecom a while to actually build the 3G network.
I have taken the plunge and re-signed to VF with an iPhone. It was the best solution for me work-wise as I am self-employed and all my digital life is Apple-based.
I am actually very pleased with it and with the service I got in the First Mobile/VF store on Lambton Quay. The whole deal was done and the sim switched inside 30 minutes, all contacts transferred AOK, all voicemail AOK, all push services AOK.
Maybe not being too early an adopter worked out! The only issue I had was that I had retained my iTunes account in the UK by using a UK card to pay the bills. As soon as I connected a NZ iPhone it was a case of "computer says no!" and I had to adopt a less-well stocked NZ iTunes account. Bummer!
So top marks to VF and to Apple! (So far...!)
