These Xnet speed threads are going around in circles. They simply don't pay for enough throughput from NZs international link at the back (wholesale) end for the amount of subscribers that connect with them. This means when too many of us are online, the international speeds are crap.

I have a cunning plan:

All of you go to Xtra, TelstraClear, Maxnet, Inspire and other ISPs that actually give decent performance. The fact that it will cost you considerably more will be compensated for by the faster speeds Foot in mouth

That will leave me with the Xnet pipe all to myself, AND I'll be paying peanuts Tongue outMoney mouth

As bad as the situation is (and it sux), that will be plenty of speed for me. Hell: I might even upgrade my modem to an ADSL2+ model (something that is pointless with current bandwidth available through these budget ISPs, depite being 400m away from a cabinet).

Then I'd actually have a reason to love Xnet!!

If you don't change direction you will end up where you are headed

I really am enjoying the experience of customer service being provided by xnet, I thought that just like the dodo it was long gone & extinct.

I have been fully informed of progress steps in my painless change over to naked broadband from my existing provider, it all just happened at or about the time indicated. Wink

I called support on just 4 occasions yesterday and only once did I hear the on hold music and the 'did you know' statements, other than that my requests were anserwed by some one who knew what they were talking about and had my viop up and running within two calls, and they sounded like they enjoyed the job!

As I have posted before, speed is not my big thing because I am on country copper more than 3km from a box but there has been a dramatic increase in my upload speed from a 90-125bps to over 625bps and download has increased a little as well. I am totally impressed with the xnet service experience so far and that is what will ensure I continue to LOVE XNET for a long time.
