No, really I do. Apart from the torrent speed issues a times I'm more than happy. On naked broadband and loving it. I thought there was enough doom and gloom in this Forum and a happier thread was needed <bg>.

I was getting the torrent plan with them up until 3 months ago and still with telecom for landline at that stage. My speed was so/so both day and night but after switching over to NBB it really improved dramatically. During peak times we get very consistant speeds in the 5000 Kb plus range and it has *hardly* let us down. We use it alot for watching utube and such for kids and I watch alot of TV that is good but dependant on the host streaming it more than xnet I think. We get the odd bit of buffering at times (peak) but nothing that is too painful. We have 3 PCs connecting along with 2 xboxs that are modded and so get lot of 'live' tv etc etc. All in all am pleased with the service but have not used net much after midnight so can't comment on speeds at those times. Am on torrent plan but have not used it much lately as the kids downloaded an upgrade for Sims from Pirate Bay and got us a 1 strike for copyright  stuff. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.  Yell" But we used to do it all time with telecom, Dad" didn't cut it with me so downloading is very restricted atm heh !!

I may have a go over the weekend with a few large isos and see what I get off peak with speeds and report back here with results.

FYI I am in Mosgiel and about 1km from exchange. Am really impressed with the phone service too. The free services provided are real great considering we paid the telecom robbers for all the included extras we get. Having ability to go online and tinker with settings etc is great and I have been telling all and sundry to have a look and sign up but have not lately till the torrent debacle sorts itself out. Some friends and family all indicated they would move soon so hoping for the friends credits to roll in haha.

Didn't port our number and that has been interesting when giving new 742xxxx number to people who insist its wrong and Ive made mistake. All numbers in Mosgiel are 489xxxx and trying to explain concept of naked BB can be a chore at times.

All customer service calls have also been dealt with promptly and any issues have always been handled well.

bAZZ.

ps.......No, don't work for or even know any employees of WXC etc Sealed

Me too!

More than happy with the internet service at home and also at work with two VFX lines.

Actually it looks like bazznet is an old Geekzoner back from early 2007 - just never posted. But a public welcome is in order.

Nice one mate :) <playful joking from a Dunedinite> man, must be about the only thing Mosgiel has going for it, eh? :) </playful>

Glad you've had better luck than some of us with Xnet. I know that I'll be staying with them for a 3rd year (2nd year with nDSL) next year when I move in to my new flat, but I'll definitely be signing up to PPM rather than Torrent. I'll be literally a stone's throw away from the central exchange of dunedin, so I'm hoping for some nice speeds like I get here (13-14mbit), plus usability during the night.

Good job Xnet, hopefully we'll all be fixed next year once the dust settles, eh? :)

I'm a happy chappy too, for almost 20 months, on Fusion for almost half of that.  XNet needs some positive feedback, perhaps they will post more now that a number of Torrenters have left and they won't get flocked so much any more.

Yeah Xnet have the best support really. All calls are answered truthfully and quickly.

Can I ask which Xnet plan you guys are on? I've just upgraded to FS plan and was considering upgrading to the FS Torrent plan however the operator advised me that it will be very slow to an "Useable" e.g. can't even browse the web

Hence I opted for pay as you go

So can someone w/ FS Torrent plan with Xnet give me their experiences?

Thanks

It's good that there are some happy customers out there.

I am on pay as you go, and for me the performance is not up to scratch at all.

I have great physical line speed, great daytime speeds and great performance on New Zealand websites.

However anytime after 6 -7 in the evening I cannot watch streaming video as the loading speed is slower than the playback speed. This means it stalls and rebuffers over and over again. Consequently a 5 minute video can take 10 - 15 minutes to play.

When I speedtest US servers such as LA, San Fransisco and New York I typically get 3 -6 Megabits in the morning, and 500 - 600 Kilobits in the evenings

Can those of you that are happy with your service watch such content without the problems I'm having?

I do not normally go on You Tube, but now at 7:40 PM it played fine for 30 seconds before buffering.  This is not limited to You Tube, other sites are the same.  Off-peak is fine and it buffers very fast.

Odd how some are affectred more than others. I'm not jumping anywhere in a hurry.

I posted on Slingshot forum as well, as they are now offering fantastic "value for money" with their "Next Big Thing" plans, but users also report traffic management and similar performance issues as I have here.

To eliminate these issues altoghether it appears you need to go to the big ISPs and that means paying significatly more for the same features and quota (although you'll be able to use it up faster). As I work a lot of evenins, I'm gonna put up with peak speed issues for the time being. Everything else is excellent, and it's market leading in terms of how low cost it is.
