Yep. We were all saying right from the start to use the app.

IME the Netgear routers perform better using DHCP than PPPoE.

Hey everyone!

Just a bit of an update that I wanted to share with the community. Since this post I've still had a number of issues regarding consistency of my network speeds and with lockdown a compounding effect on my home network / broadband. However, I have now found a steady and speedy solution that I'm happy with.

It's clear that although the Netgear Nighthawk X6 R8000 provides great wifi capabilities but its WAN connection is iffy at best. I found that over time the internet speeds would diminish, and a reset was required.

So I downgraded the firmware to an older version, as I found this to be a solution for most user of this hardware on the netgear forums. I then turned the nighthawk R8000 into an AP using the AP mode and connected to my old spark HG659b which provides a stable 950/400 connection.

Already been mentioned that NG routers are bad for 1G connections, best to stick to stick to the HG659b for WAN and AP - or do you have a specific need for the NG to be in AP mode?

The reason I moved away from the HG659b initially was that the wifi would lock up occasionally, when multiple wifi devices were online. So the HG659b had iffy wifi issues, hence why I connected it to the nighthawk.

Just be aware you'll also face limitations with that setup due to the limited DHCP device limit that is imposed in the HG659b
