Linux:

@PANiCnz Is the handset on the VodafoneNZ approved list?

Yes, but as the previous comments in the thread have indicated, whether it's on the list or not is meaningless for Vodafone.

They've just pushed the Oppo dates out another two months, this is now the fourth time they've done it.

A52s is not on the list.

The old A52 IS however.

PANiCnz:

Any advice on getting WiFi calling working with a Samsung A52s 5G? Vodafone SIM is in slot one and VoLTE is working. 2Degrees SIM in slot 2 with WiFi calling working.

Have you checked to see if the setting to enable WiFi calling exists on the Vodafone sim?

If so and it's checked on, have you tried forcing airplane mode on? Pays to know that VoLTE takes priority unless you're in a no coverage area or on the fringe of 4G.

Thanks, this worked. Switch to airplane mode and turned on WiFi and WiFi calling was enabled on both sims.

neb: They've just pushed the Oppo dates out another two months, this is now the fourth time they've done it.

Vodafone have now gone from pretending to have WiFi calling on Oppo phones like my one by moving the dates forward two months every two months, the "misleading advertising" part of a Commerce Commission "false and misleading advertising" complaint, to straight-out "false advertising", claiming on their WiFi calling page that it's enabled when in fact it isn't. I guess they got sick of even pretending to do WiFi calling and just went to straight-out lying about it.

Will be filing a complaint with the Commerce Commission on Monday. It's now getting close to a year after I bought this phone on the promise of it doing WiFi calling, and the best Vodafone have managed in that time is to change from pretending to support it to flat-out lying about supporting it.

If the option is present. Have you tried turning on airplane mode and then turning on WiFi?

Have you tried a network reset?

Lastly have you very much updated the phone?

Tried all of that. Since it's a dual-SIM phone it's actually possible to do a direct A/B comparison, Vodafone vs. Spark:

The reason why I'm extra annoyed about this is because I missed a medical-related call a few days ago because Vodafone's pretend WiFi calling for this phone doesn't actually exist, and they couldn't get through to me...

I would, if it was possible. The only option they give you is wasting inordinate amounts of time with a chatbot that goes round and round in circles not even beginning to understand the problem until you eventually give up and cut the connection.

Saves on customer service costs if you don't have any customer service, I guess.

That's the waste-of-time chatbot, I spent... not sure, maybe half an hour on there at one point but there's simply no way you can even begin to communicate something like this to it. I'll try calling 777 on Monday, but I'm pretty sure I know how it's going to pan out, first a long wait listening to a recorded message about higher than normal call volumes, then between quarter and half an hour trying to get someone to understand what the problem is while they go through a checklist of restarting the phone, turning WiFi on and off, asking whether I've updated the phone, pulling out and reinserting the SIM, and all the other stuff I've already done multiple times, then finally a message that they'll log a case/escalate it and get back to me after which I'll never hear from them again.

However, I will give it a go on Monday just so I can say I've tried all the options.

Just to confirm - did you get Vodafone VoWiFi to work on the A52 5G model despite it not being on Vodafone's supported device list?

In fact I can do one better than that, here's the Vodafone SIM on a non-Vodafone network:

So non-Vodafone SIM on Spark, WiFi calling is enabled. Vodafone SIM on non-Vodafone network, WiFi calling is enabled. Vodafone SIM on Vodafone network, no WiFi calling despite Vodafone NZ claiming it's available.

I must be lucky, my non-Vodafone parallel-imported Samsung already had wifi calling enabled without me even doing a thing. Maybe it's a fluke?

They supported Apple and some of the newer/more expensive Samsungs from the get-go.

I assume they needed at least one or two phones where they could actually demonstrate WiFi calling when they claimed they had it.
