Hi,

I am looking for a bit of guidance. I seem to be stuck on receiving Broadband at 100/20 rather than 300/100. I have spoken to Vodafone and they tell me that the line is provisioned for 300/100 so I should be receiving it. They talked me through resetting everything by turning everything off for half an hour. This made no difference,

Before I go back to Vodafone I would like a bit of guidance as to what my issue likely is as I have identified a couple of possibilities,

I am on the Unlimited Fibre 100 plan. There was a mention on this thread that the plan was grandfathered and wouldn't receive the speed increase. The person I spoke to at Vodafone seemed to discount this.

My set up is TP Link Deco M5 units  coupled up to a TP link VR600v modem. This modem has a rated maximum VDSL speed of 100Mbps So I understand if this is the maximum speed I can achieve. Speed tests carried out using the Deco app speed test gave speeds of 100/200. I did however repeat the speed test with my original Vodafone supplied HG659 and received similar results.

I am really just trying to ascertain if my issue is at the Vodafone end or if I need a new modem?

TIA

Laurie

We have the same issue on a business fibre connection - multiple different HG659 but still the same outcome. They sent out a new router, still the same.

It almost seems to be a provision bug/error and still trying to hear back from Vodafone on next steps post new router test.

Looks like it will be Jan before someone gets back, but at least someone else is getting the same type of throttled connection - in our case it's throttled to 100/120 oddly enough.

Hello Scheduler!

when you do the speedtest.net, what speed did it give you?

also, connect your computer using the lan cable to the modem and do the speedtest and see whether you can get the increase as well

the funny thing for me was: my computer using wi-fi gave me the 100/20 on speedtest, but the deco app constantly do the 300/100.. so i decided to turn off the deco and plug the computer into the lan behind the modem, it immediately gave me 300/100 on the speedtest.net

so did a reset on the deco and make a new wi-fi name, everything goes well on 300/100.

FYI, i have also turn off the wi-fi SSID on my vodafone modem too and make the deco as my access to my wifi.

hope that helps

I was stuck at 100/100 and it turned out to be the ethernet cable between the ONT and the router. It was supposedly a CAT6 cable, but obviously wasn't working 100%. Could be worth swapping it out if you haven't already.
