@MaxineN

If you can help us get an H122 that would be very helpful, we're assuming that's got the standard Huawei firmware? We know on that you can at least kill the DHCP server.

Unfortunately.... as much as I stock every CPE from OneNZ/VFNZ's portfolio since the HG659 (HG659, UH, DN8245, all of the Decos but the X50-DSL and even a B818!) I do not own a H122 and if I did I would have just donated and paid for shipping.

Trademe holds 0 results for the H122.

And again I don't work for One NZ. Don't think anyone I know who still works there has a spare one they can just give out (as that would be used for testing and fixing bugs).

Edit: I have asked one of my contacts in devices which that team I was very close with. I cannot and will not guarantee any promises.

Yeah, we kept trying to sign up with them and they kept telling our card (both Kiwibank and Transferwise) to piss off.

Debit or credit cards?

I don't have a credit card on my Oracle Cloud account. Never entered one.

Debit card, no way in hell we're putting a credit card on that... or on anything

@MaxineN

Holy shit if you can get us one... that would be incredible.

Hi.

I have some information, good and bad news.

Let's start with the bad news.

My contact in devices have confirmed > no H122 left. Sorry.

Good news.

Bridge is coming to the X80, no locked in date but it is coming.

This is as much as I can do. Until then, I highly advise against working around the ToS or swapping the CPE with an unapproved device as previously stated in the thread.

100% encourage working around the issue with VPSes and Wireguard (One NZ peers really well with most providers).

Kind regards
Maxine

Shiiiit, no way? Bridge mode is coming to the X80 with the out-of-date vfnz firmware too? Cause we think Onenz is using an older 1.0.x branch?

Just jumping in to advise One RBI / FWA retailers DO have unlocked SIM cards and CAN use third party hardware.

We’ve got a bunch of customers using Mikrotik routers for example. We also provide Static IP on request - either our IP or a One IP depending on the requirements.

So is Onenz talking out their ass here, as it were? Because seriously this TP-Link is quite possibly the worst router we've ever seen, only matched by the Plume pods given out by GCI for home internet in Alaska; at least this one has somewhat of a web UI. Hell, we'd use this one if we can get root and kill the DHCP server, ngl.

I’m guessing they don’t want the support headaches of third party devices on the retail side.

Anyway, go have a chat with ya friendly One wholesaler and see what they can offer you.

One NZ customers vs My Full Flavour customers.

MFF isn't wrong, but nor are the two ex One NZ staff members.

Different service agreements and different levels of support.

In my previous post I made it clear not to skirt around the ToS or swapping to an unapproved device, on One NZ(again those where the terms you signed up with). My Full Flavour has different terms and different agreements. Again bridge mode is coming on the X80, just no confirmed date(and the product owner is watching this thread). Under My Full Flavour those terms maybe a lot different, never been a customer with them, never worked for them either so I can only comment from the perspective that I know.

You are welcomed to churn but there is a ETC (again the terms you signed up with) as well.

I also found out with my call last night with someone in devices that resi FWA are meant to get a public IP, my apologies however I will defend myself and note that internal documentation still said CG-NAT.

Even as an ex One NZer. Still trying to do the right thing. Hope that's clear.

Kind regards
Maxine.

so conclusion, soon as the fw for the x80 with bridge mode shows up, throw it into bridge mode and forget that it exists. If we can beta test the fw that'd be awesome.

I did find this but it's quite expensive and you'd probably have to replace the power supply to use it here. But they seem to be around if you look online.

I have done a lot of Full Flavour installs, also Netspeed, Hero, Ultimate Broadband and a few others using unlocked SIM's. My usual hardware choices are Draytek, Teltonika and Mikrotik depending on the end user requirements.

We guessing they're an RBI provider, right, not an urban one? We all in about the most urban area going, namely Te Aro. It ain't no Seattle that's for damn sure but it's something. Hell, One (sidenote: not a great name, ngl) 5G broadband ain't bad, it's just the router getting in the way. Hell, we got a Netgear Nighthawk M5 we'd've used but apparently not.

Some of the RBI providers are now also offering the urban plans too.

ah, gotcha gotcha. Goddess we hope those folks working on the OpenWRT port for the x80-5G get their shit in order, that'd be goddamn perfect. a VFNZ-certified CPE, but not running software that looks like the designers asked, "can our great great grandmother set this up? if no, take away more features"
