Yip my office is working perfectly where I was on a 2D hotspot. The client I have with 3 sites in the south island are all working properly again and the router based VPN between sites is all up.
Be interested to know what the outage was and what the fix was.
Hope its permanent as the OneNZ status page still lists the faults with TBC for ETA.

I've had mobile data in QT and looks like fixed broadband is up again.
Wasn't ideal given today is my work from home day but thankful my work mobile is on Spark and was able to hotspot until everything came back up
Having major trouble here in Whangarei. What a day to try to set up my new Grandstream router (using quic). 🤯
I plugged it in this morning, and it all went perfectly. Set up couldn't have been easier. Noticeably snappier as well. I went out for a couple of hours, and come back, and it's borked.
I swapped the old router back in (known good) and that one doesn't work either. It rather unhelpfully tells me "Your ISP's DHCP does not function properly," although quic doesn't show any network events of note.
Even tethering (with Kogan) is spotty.

Is it still down going on 12-hours now? Website seems to not have updated.
All restored according to Stuff: https://www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/360972732/one-nz-issue-causes-widespread-outages-across-large-parts-country
Next time they use Claude to make network changes they need to include in the prompt "make no mistakes". /s
>A spokesperson told Stuff the issue was caused by a bug in network software provided by a technology partner.<
Is this the "It wasn't me" excuse? 🙂

No issues with the Quic network in Whangārei today. Bear in mind if you’re swapping routers and using DHCP authentication, you need to wait up to 25 minutes for the previous DHCP lease to expire before you’ll be able to obtain an IP address with a different router (different MAC address to be precise).

Aaaaah. Thanks for the input.
I was careful not to accidentally switch between DHCP and PPPoE (given the half-hour switch over time), but I wasn't aware that swapping routers would have an impact on things.
Things with the new router are still not working, so I've switched back to the old router until the end of the weekend when the missus and kid aren't needing internet connectivity, and I can have a play on Monday.
I'll then swap things over, and leave it for an hour to sort out the leases.

A question for everyone:
How do you determine that the issue is with the ISP and not inside your home (e.g. computer/switch/router), what steps do you go through to troubleshoot?
In my case:

In my case:
- Reboot wireless aps, try again
- Reboot switch and router, try again
- Check ISP outages
- Check GZ
You've skipped looking at ONT and checking the status lights against normal operation (for Chorus you can use https://www.chorus.co.nz/optimise/ont-fibre-box-support as a reference). Additionally look at LFC (Northpower and Chorus have good ones) outages pages, for major outages at the LFC level, they're generally faster than most ISPs from putting it on their status pages.
Neither apply if it's the ISP itself, but still good quick references, and should be part of your normal diagnostics. I'll also say that One NZ are the fastest to update their outages page based on recent experiences with wide impact unexpected outages, and they also are more reliable for posting about planned maintenance that sometimes doesn't appear on the Chorus maps.
