Buttonmash: Not exactly huge news unless they drop the insane $230 a month pricing.


Especially considering it was supposed to be available late 2007!

25Mbps sounds cool and cable can be pretty quick however the showstopper here is shared bandwidth - if there are lots of cable users on you node you'll probably not get anywhere near 25Mbps....

With DOCSIS2 that's an issue. DOCSIS3 essentially overcomes that with channel bonding which can significantly increases the available bandwidth.

There will be more congestion problems with ADSL2+ and/or VDSL2+ Telecom cabinets than what there will be on a properly engineered DOCSIS3 network.

Oh, greeeaaat, it's the same price ($230). Absolutely pathetic.

Well, like I predicted, it's a big fat fail. Seriously, this was promised for the second half of 2007! That's 2 years ago! What a crock. TelstraClear proves once again that they can't do anything right. Well done Dr Freeth. Bravo.

Now is a good time to remind everyone that the 10Mbps plans haven't changed for 3 years bar a price inrease.
