Ive been having lots of problems.  Been at home a lot the last few weeks and got a really good feel on whats happening here. My main work this month is a National hosted dedicated server by wheresmyserver, a VPS on a new Sandy Bridge sitting 2 hops away from us hitting USA land and a little cpanel host central USA.  Its very clear its only overseas traffic and as noted before I do a lot of VOIP calls with 2talk, when the internet drops, my IAX2 Trunked call is fine.

I just then tried pacificfibre.net and it timed out.

The big one I can add to this is that it is very clear at about 4 to 4.30pm it starts having problems.  Telstra cant handle the load uhh?  Shame for international to let down such good internet network.  For the record guys, im telstra's cable biggest advocate of their cable network.

Ill stand with them for now but they really need to acknowledge this is a problem and that they are working on it.  We all understand its an easy place to have problems.

I don't think it's load. I was having problems with the sites that were suggested above (CNN, IMDB), but from the logitech site I was downloading software at 200KB/sec. I wonder if it's a routing issue.

Annoying side effect: Because Geekzone is serving overseas content in the form of google analytics, facebook and possibly ads pages are taking forever to finish loading.

I use a US based VPS as well for my side projects. It's been completely impossible to access from home for the last week.

All my usage is in the evenings and I haven't had a chance to test any other time of day. Will test in the morning and see if things are different. If this turns out to be a long running load issue I'll be disappointed. That's the reason I left my previous ISP.

Just tried pacificfibre.net. Over two minutes for the home page to load.
Also, tried www.logitech.com, 1 minute+ to load the home page with flash animation.
GMail failing every other minute.
YouTube mostly unusable.

Actually because we use async scripts even if those other resources don't load you still can read our content, unlike other sites.

True that. Because everything has been so slow I've been opening everything in background tabs and only switching when the loading icon disappears. Didn't notice your content pops up immediately. Nice work :)

It really highlights the speed difference.

Testing this morning shows 2.9 - 3.5Mbps speeds to North America, quite acceptable. Looks like this maybe a load issue unless they fixed the issue overnight (unlikely). Will test again this evening to confirm.

Yeah im on routing problem over bandwidth. Once it finds the website I get the great speed im use to with telstra cable.

Again, we are not silly and need Telstra to comment on this before it gets to be a bigger unhealthy problem for them.

Just got home from work and as expected, international traffic is back to dead slow (less than 0.2Mbps).

So it seems to be as you suggested, during high usage times TelstraClear international traffic is worthless - at least for me in Wellington. Oddly I seem to be getting much better upstream speeds to the same servers.

Just a couple of weeks ago I had no issues whatsoever. No response from TC about this yet...

It was fine for me just after 8 this morning (3.5Mbps to LA) but I expect it's probably dropped again now that more people are online. And I am certain it will be useless by the time I get home this evening.

I emailed TC again last night (no reply yet) and will call then again today to see if I can get some kind of response. I would hope to get better performance and better service when paying $200+ for a broadband connection.

Are your upstream speeds significantly better than downstream?
