Still no difference,

oh well Telstra, its time to part our ways....
It has been an enjoyable partnership ;P, but all good things come to an end.

bye bye

I gave you a chance, I said to myself (ironically) that I will wait until the Telstra NRL season to start.

DjShadow: I tried isky tonight on my parent's TCL DSL connection (12mb adsl2+), impossible to watch live rugby...will be lucky to get 3-4 seconds of video before it re-buffers.

Did a tracert to its cdn and looks like its not being sent overseas anymore:

Tracing route to fm-p9345.id.velocix.com [60.234.60.132]

Just saw this, why dont you think it's going overseas? 170ms to the end hop, That either a really saturated link or it's not sitting in NZ

Good work, if more consumers acted this way Telstraclear wouldn't be able to get away with no open peering at APE/WIX and they wouldn't have the leverage to force hosts into buying interconnection transit from them or Telecom.

I would think that traffic to North America that had to do a roundtrip loop would have a much higher latency than 170ms, wouldn't it?

I have rarely seen one-way latency from the USA -> NZ any better than about 170ms (on DSL).

Of course, latency isn't really the issue....it's steady/consistent throughput.  If latency were *really* bad (i.e. >500ms), I could see some client/server negotiating issues cropping up.

However, 170ms latency shouldn't cause these issues. I get much higher latency getting netflix from the USA via VPN and no buffering problems with that.

JimmyC: Going to be a bloody long 7 week South African cricket tour judging by iSky performance again tonight...

Yep - it is dreadful to watch day 4 of the 1st test on iSky (SkySport 3) today - good excuse to get multi-room...

If I helps with any decisions, I had some in-depth conversations (phone and email) with TelstraClear NOC staff regarding this issue about 8 months ago, nothing has changed.

Luckily for us, we have Google, and it only takes a few clicks to stream any given content from elsewhere.

I am on TCL cable in chch and have been for 3 years and love the garaunteed 15mb that i usually get and ISKY is my only issue! This has been going sice the Isky beta first came out and i have never been able to stream it because of the buffering issues. I would be keen to see this sort ASAP as to me it appears as if this is not being taken seriously as Sky TV are an obvious rival to Telstra's TV service? A lot of people can now use their friends or parents Isky accounts which would make purchasing sky through telstra pointless...

please can this issue be sorted some time soon

As mentioned before, it's a TCL design issue that they're not willing to change.

Seems strange now that you can actually get iSky when you are a TCL customer (finally) - you'd think they would want their own customers to enjoy the experience...

(On a sidenote, I wonder when they are going to officially announce that TCL customers can use iSky - I asked on Twitter about a month ago and was told "Watch this space"... well I'm still watching!)

Guys FYI, SSH tunnels is the only way I have been able to get it working.  I use my WIX server but even the USA servers are better than direct.

Few geeks around here so thought this might help some....
