There was a known issue with the first bill having an issue of dropping your previous discount and charging for $30 instead and also charging for the shipping of the modem. This has seemed common but a quick call and I got it sorted. CSR confirmed happens for HFC to Fibre customers pretty consistently.

Update: OneNZ sent me a X53 instead of a BE28. When I got in touch to say they sent the wrong one, it turns out they can't get enough BE28s so they are sending X53s instead and can't guarantee supply of BE28s before HFC is retired. So that's that. No WiFi-7 for me.

You wouldn't be able to make use of it anyway as they're still not in the XPON market. Unless you're ripping over a gig over your LAN.

Also... I think the X53s do 160mhz wide channels so you'll still rip a gig on wifi with the right device.

I do agree would have been great to get a BE unit and it's 2 2.5gbps NICs.

Looks like the last bastion of HFC finally has a replacement program in motion:

Have spotted a few Enable vans around the town over the last two weeks, so this announcement is not unexpected.

It's been a good run on HFC for the last 8 years, will be sorry to see it go tbh.

That is good news! I think you'll be happier with what enable put in, especially as newer tech and newer products are rolled out.

I've been advocating for Enable to rollout in Pegasus for the last few years so most certainly looking forward to being back on Fibre!

However, for most of the last 8 years our HFC bill was $53 per month (now $73) for 900/100, with no CG-NAT, and the service has been rock solid. Will be nice to get off One NZ's routing oddities though.

Does it look like Enable are allowed and able to use One NZ ducting? That would be a nice gesture,
(I'm assuming Pegasus cabling would all be underground - it is a relatively new area, isn't it?)
