From Island Bay I'm getting ping 44 (normal) and 97/10Mbps (much faster than usual) to VF Sydney at 5:30pm

There is obviously huge variation in cable performance according to location.

EDIT:  at 5:40 pm I'm getting a ping of 257 and 1.5/3Mbps to Sydney

Trying to watch a 720p60FPS YouTube video - buffers every 5-10 seconds for half a second. So annoying.

Foo: ... Apparently I need to sign back up for another year period in order to drop from $134.99 to $109. And the 130/10 plan doesn't exist any more and "won't work"...

.. and that's how to "encourage" people to leave grandfathered plans wink

All sorted now - I had the choice of paying $109 per month and dropping to 100/10 or staying on the 130/10 and paying $115 a month. Went for 130/10 and signed for another year smile Happy.

Both awful but one 8 times worse.

Is that from Steam? I assume you've switched away from the New Zealand server to, say, the NSW one?

Just...ouch. So much for watching a couple of nice, high-quality videos before going to sleep early tonight. I was in the middle of a half-hour 1080p60 video, and then it just downright tanked. I've had it buffering for over five minutes now, and it hasn't budged an inch. Viva la sub-480p... :\

I just hope that the connection is fast and reliable this weekend. I have quite a bit of work to finish up, and I'd hate to have to make an otherwise unnecessary trip to the city just because my connection isn't up to the task.

My internet is gone to hell tonight now too. I have previously been unaffected by congestion and my speeds are normal. But websites don't fully load and netflix keeps stopping.

I think this is actually getting worse. Every time I say something the response is the same letter stating work will be done "by September".
