Shagy: Issues I've noticed:
System overview Reports internet disconnected

Upgraded yesterday and also had  internet disconnected message though in fact it was connected and running fine.
Got rid of this message by changing:
Under Internet_ethernet setting
I changed IP protocol version from Ipv4 + Ipv6 to Ipv4

Everything else seems  to work as before and Guest accounts now available

VodafoneDylan: Hi all

We're looking into pushing this firmware update out to HG659 modems that haven't been upgraded yet on consumer plans (not business at this stage).

I would be interested to hear how you've found the new firmware so far. For advanced users who've used the admin login the admin password is different after the upgrade of course and the feedback so far is that we need to make the new admin password more obvious, I'll be working on help content about that with Lon - anything else come to mind?

Cheers

Dylan

New new password is fine as we can change it afterwards and it's pretty secure.

I can't seem to see any options below the new "Guest Network" turn on button though?

Tick the box and it should show more options

A issue I've found with the Guest network cropped up when we had a babysitter here last week. I had enable the guest network and provided her with the password but she was still unable to connect her iPad as I run a MAC address whitelist for WLAN Access. I've since enabled her device in the whitelist but was wondering if there could be a second separate set of WLAN Access Rules for the guest network? I turn the guest network off when not needed so I'd be happy to 'Allow All' when it's on.

Thanks very much, good spotting. I've passed that feedback on.

Thanks I'll try that, now if only SSH worked :\

What's a power user to do on a rainy day. I suppose I could SSH into my Rpi
and annoy the neighbors by opening and closing my garage door.
I'd rather be SSH'ing into the router and pondering my VDSL stats.
ahh well to the the garage door it is....

Come on Vodafone won't you think of all those poor power users
out there denied hours of entertainment.

I have remote access disabled on the hg659 and upnp disabled
I  tried connecting to the router from outside, getting a 503 service unavailable
Scanned my ip externally from my cell ph, ports 80 and 1935 reported as open
shields up reports ports 0-1055, 1935,5060 stealth
Router logs set to display type: all debug all
logs don't show any of my remote attempts to connect or port scanning
Yet it does show the the odd "warning" intrusion from ip addresses originating in China, Brazil and USA
along with the port number
not sure whats going on there.

Another thumbs up for the new firmware smile
Been using it for over a week with 5+ devices connected via wifi and no longer get disrupted throughput or disconnection.

No changes to the vdsl connection speed, has always had solid connection from initial firmware.

I am trying to install a router entry to deny access to a particular address (don't ask... teenagers...) but no matter what I do, it's still accessible.

Having no access to SSH means I can't see why that is.

Entry in the router table is:

Addr: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Mask:255.255.255.255
GW: 192.168.0.254 (home net is 192.168.1.x)
I/F: Ethernet

That should be enough to scuttle any access, but it is still accessible.

The new firmware includes parental control features, if that helps.

I have been using this firmware for a few months and one problem I have noticed is that it forgets port forwarding rules from time to time. Not all of them, just the odd one here and there. I don't know if there is a limit to the number of entries you can have - I have seven and often one or two get dropped.

Hi I have tried this firmware on my HG659 which used to have vodafone firmware on it but flashed it with telecom firmware about 9 months ago. When installed the router only has power light and lan 4 light showing I then need to go to recovery mode ( power on + reset ) and the only firmware it will accept is the telecom it still won't load the voda firmware is there something I am not doing right.

Sorry, no idea, honestly sounds decently broken, and that recovery option sounds like it must be the Spark firmware...? Maybe try the newest Spark firmware. I'm not sure how well flashing older firmware would work what versions you've used etc. There could be something strange happening like the partitions in the modem could be different sizes between Spark/Vodafone firmware, or between versions.

So have the webservers on the WAN interfaces on port 80 and 443 been removed?

Looking to run let's encrypt on an internal server but will fail due to the modem intercepting the traffic...
