Despite JohnR and I getting off on the wrong foot, I became to know him as a very helpful and friendly guy. I would like to thank him for all the help he has given me over the years, and he will be sincerely missed on the forum, pending a personal account.

I am very sad to see JohnR leave Geekzone. It is because of people like him that I got to love Geekzone in the first place. The knowledge of people like him have made Geekzone the useful site that it is. Let's hope more do not leave. I do appreciate however that people who have negative comments made about their posts or worse, them personally, would not want to stick around. Life's too short to put up with bad press.

Thanks JohnR for your helpful contributions over the years.

As someone who was recently helped by JohnR with issues I was having trouble getting traction with from Vodafone support, I'm very sorry to see him go.

Guys like him are what makes Geekzone!

Thanks for being the guy you are John, keep the passion and come back (just lose the VF label?)

You will be sorely missed if you don't!

freitasm: He is still with Vodafone. He asked to be removed from Geekzone.

I guess it gets to a point where it is too hard to front for a company like that...

I didn't know you had to ask to stop using Geekzone.

JohnR kept me on Vodafone longer than I would have otherwise been. A top man.

If anyone here was abusing him, shame on them.

JohnR - your departure from GZ is a huge loss to the community. Huge. You provided much help and advice to many people, myself included, over many years. Help and advice which also spanned across Spark (Telecom) and 2 Degrees.

That said I fully understand your reasons for stepping back and think it's a great thing you're taking time out for yourself and your interests. I look forward to your return, one day, in a non-company role.

I must be thinking of a different user, but then again I'm not a Vodafone customer...

I've only just noticed this as I haven't had much time to visit Geekzone in recent times.

John has almost certainly saved Vodafone huge amounts of revenue/customers thanks to his pragmatic and quick resolution of issues for many VF customers.

I don't know but would guess that his decision has resulted from difficulty dealing with significant internal bureaucracy and perhaps the unfair expectations some have put on him despite the fact his help here has been unofficial and unpaid.

John is a truly nice person who is passionate about his work, extremely intelligent, and a really good bloke.

He has helped me out a number of times with Vodafone issues and if he does come back perhaps Mauricio should award a 'Knighthood' badge recognizing the great work he has done for GZ members.

Oh no, this is the worst possible news! At the worst possible time!

I am on the cusp of changing over from ADSL to fibre, and I was really counting on JohnR to be there to smooth the way.

Selfishness aside, he's always been kind, helpful and patient with me, even when I haven't been. And according to him outdoors, that's no easy feat!

Shame, JohnR pushed my buttons.

Also I am partially named after him.
