NOT actually free? Say again? That number - 00800 7666 7666 is Apple Computer's toll free number. Unless I'm badly misunderstanding the situation it shouldn't cost anyone but Apple a single cent for calls to that number. Certainly it costs callers nothing.

I think he means that this number is free for one the parties (Calling Number) but agreements between operators need to be in place ("commercials") to allow for correct assignment of the ticket.

Meh - it's all too much effort to use VFX.

Firstly only Linksys gear is supported for home use and it sucks. I still cannot figure out QoS on the loaner WAG54GP2v2 after days searching the 'net and even flat out asking Linksys for help. The person I got on the phone was impossible to understand and clearly couldn't understand what I wanted.

Secondly I just cannot be bothered sorting out solution to the 00800 issue with VFX. I got VFX to make life easier and less expensive. Instead it's nothing but trouble.

Finally I'm told I'd be without a phone for up to 5 working days if I wanted to go back to Telecom for my home phone. Well the hell with that!

Nope - I'm taking the easy solution and have just paid for a Skype Pro account with SkypeIn. The only downside is my SkypeIn number is an Auckland area code, but that's no biggie for my type of phone use. Plus Skype are slowly adding other area codes and I can switch to a closer or completely correct one when it becomes available.

So - the upshot of this is I'd like to cancel my VFX service and I do not expect a bill. I was promised by Brian Grace the first month's fees would be waived due to the screw up when I was cut off from Telecom prematurely and without warning before I'd bought the analogue adaptor.

I'll keep my naked DSL connection with you guys for now, as I still quite like the broadband plan I'm on. But please get rid of my VFX service.

I'm just going to remove the Linksys WAG54GP2v2 from my network and replace it with my good old ZyXEL P660H, so you'll need to email me details on how to return the loaner WAG54GP2v2.

It's all rather a relief, actually. Skype works beautifully and always has for me, plus I'll have working QoS again for my LAN and it's been sorely missed while trying out the WAG54GP2v2.

I will say I've been pleased with the recent service I've received from Xnet techs (though the times on hold are very long) and Maverick, so hat's good and bodes well for my future Xnet naked DSL use.

Well, thanks everyone for your assistance. I'm just sorry it couldn't be worked out with VFX.
